This is not something that can be solved with an expansion of the video classification system. If people don't want to see non-anime music videos, then people don't want to see non-anime music videos.
Super Search gives people quite a bit of searching power to find what they want to find. Maybe the day will come when Phade will let us enter in raw SQL queries for those of us who like doing it, or just want to feel l33t. (Although, I really doubt that will happen, given the massive potential for abuse. But I digress.) Therefore, if somebody wants to find a music video set to footage of Tomb Raider to Rammstein music, it's pretty easy to do such a thing. I fail to see how expanding the site would do anything to change this situation.
This is www.
animemusicvideos.org. Most people are here because (1) they enjoy making anime music videos and/or (2) they enjoy viewing and analyzing anime music videos. What you are seeing in your download count is more indicative of community trends than a site deficiency.
Yes, it is hard to be recognized. But here's an easy way around that:
just don't care about being recognized. I gave up on that when I realized that status in the AMV world means precisely dick, and my editing became 500% more enjoyable.
After all, it's the pure pursuit of recognition that lead much of the music world into the festering hellhole that it is today.
