A long time ago I was in a band and we cut a demo tape with a cover song on it. I asked about licensing and rights and all that and the engineer in the studio explained to us how the law worked and how technically you are supposed to get a mechanical license in order to sell a demo with a cover song on it... but that the profit margin for the tapes was so small, our visibility as a band was so low and that we were probably going to wind up spending more on the tape than we'd make back in sales. Labels don't go after local bands unless they're REALLY profiting off the work of their artists.

In the case of cable access, no one is making any money. at all. You're going to wind up paying money out of pocket to put it on the air.

Bottom line is that you really should secure the licenses, but no one is going to notice anyway. So do it and have fun. You're not going to get in any trouble, you're not going to get charged for licenses, you'll probably never see a cease and desist letter.

What? Why would to get free CDs of amv? Listen I live in the city and not just any city but "NEW YORK CITY" I have tons of AMV dude, I just want to help the AMV Community out. Many AMV say they want to be editors, producers, directors, etc. In some way this will help you out. Listen you can choose to believe me or not. Its up to you!

All I know is that the AMV that I have seen I will be emailing the makers to give me permission if I can air their AMV. Or if i can air it and they remain anonymous. As for prove i don't have any! but! if you come down to New York City or no someone you know, i can show you prove.

Go to www.Mnn.org, click on cable guide, click on friday and search for a show called "The Tri-Force Zone" Its a Anime/videogame thats on at fridays at 10:30pm channel 56

10:30 PM 56/108 THE TRI-FORCE ZONE
Bringing you the latest in videogame/ anime footage. 28 min.

Thats one videogame/anime show, and since www.mnn.org has NLE Machines its easier to edit a show, and make it look professional.
