Funny you should mention this topic, just yesterday i spotted this video:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... d_id=95169
The part between 3:31 to 3;37 was taken directly from my Naru-85 video. (And thats would have been a toughie to prove if he split up the scenes since I don't use any effects or watermarks, but he managed to lift an entire segment containing 4 different animes with my edits.)
Ok, its not a 'large' chunk or the whole video. I probably would have been super pissed if he did that and then tried to claim the whole thing as his own work. Actually, I'm rather flattered at this moment that he thought enough of my video to want part of it.
I noted that the scenes he took from mine were some of the better-quality clips in his vid...except he did a crappy job of encoding and left an ugly divx logo on the thing. I'm tempted to tell him how to dump that thing...cluttering up >my< clips<.
Still would have liked a little private note from him though or an acknowlegement of the contribution. Maybe he's still holding out for 'plausable deniability'.
As far as the site rules go, that is still a grey area. I've heard and seen the threat to drop blatantly pirated vids but I'm not sure if anyone has actually been banned over it. I am not going to even touch the legal argument of the origin of footage.
