Apple gives a flat $50 education discount on the hardware. There's probably a larger one on the software.

Oh, and the TV series Family Guy (at least the first couple seasons) was edited on Adobe Premiere 6.x, complete with abundant "deinterlace when speed is below 100%" problems throughout :P

There are also a lot of hometown-business editors whom Premiere is just right for.

I remember those. I just figured that happened with every program. XP

I use Vegas, and I can safely tell you that that's a Premiere only thing.

Yes, I think its a pretty safe bet, when the problem exists both on my legitimate DVDs and the TV broadcasts
Plus there was a behind the scenes video and it showed them working in Premiere.

Someone actually EDITED in After Effects?? o.O
When I took an After Effects class, one of the first projects the instructor had us do was edit a trailer with the intentions to show us that AE is NOT an editing program, it's a COMPOSITING program. Sure, you can edit in AE, and you can also drink soup with a fork...but why would you want to?

To get back to the main topic, most "professionals" I've seen who use Premiere are wedding videographers or small companies that do corporate videos.

You can't say that FCP has had a longer history than Premiere, because Premiere came out around 1996 and FCP came out around 2000.

on a similar topic,
Check out this thread on the Apple forums: Its a FCP vs Premiere..even though its on an APPLE thread, the debate is pretty open minded and goes both ways...a pro Vegas user even posted.

It's got some nice insight to different programs for different users' intentions.
