AMVs mentioned on TWiT

This forum is for the general discussion of Anime Music Videos.

Upon reading this, I simply had to post. Being the lurker that I am, this is totally a rare occurance.

When I first found this site, I was a total and utter anime-n00b (some may argue that this is a good thing to be though) My friend pointed me here one day because he had an Evangelion video hosted here. Anyway, I made my way into the "top 10% list" and clicked the first one. Let me just say that I bought RahXephon shortly after. It's been pretty much that way for every series I watched after; I first saw it here. Most recently I saw the "Magic Stick" clip in AMV Hell 3 which led me to getting Negima.

I'm getting off the point. What I want to say is, the only reason I've bought/downloaded 90% of the series I have is because of AMVs that I have seen on this site. And often it goes the same for music as well. Most AMV creators use interesting/non-mainstream music for their videos, thus introducing me to songs I would have never known existed otherwise.

Legality of these things is most certainly shakey, for simple fact that everything used was created (more or less) by someone else. Still I think if the creators of an anime or the author of a certain song were shown a video using their product, they would say "That's pretty damn cool". For simple fact that it is.

In conclusion: Laws suck.

Maybe, but at the moment I'm not an AMVer (unless you count just watching them.) I do plan on making some, but in the meantime (*points to the left*) I have spent some of my hard-earned moolah keeping your videos viewable.

Wow, what a coincidence. :¬ \

On topic though, I think that anyone saying that AMVs should be legal is a step in the right direction toward something.
I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.

That's awful nice of TWiT to compliment the AMV community and the things we make here. It's actually kinda flattering considering we're just fans showing how much our interest in anime (and/or editing) means to us by having creative fun with it. It feels nice to be recognized because of a hobby.
