I barely ever work on AMV's cause my true calling is Flash toons. Just the thought of finishing it helps me move along, and for feedback.

When I get frustrated working on a project, I set it aside and do some little quick and quirky video just for fun. Clears my head a little, and gives me a cheap laugh.

Once I get into the actual editing part, I'm usually full steam ahead. Ripping footage, however, tends to drag. When I start getting tired, I take a break (sometimes an hour, sometimes whole day) and do something else. Watching my favorite AMVs also motivates me to get back on track.

Editing is for fun. If it starts feeling like work, for the sake of all humanity STOP!

I was pretty stressed while making my last amv. The haunting instrumental track and trying to make a [half] fast paced horror amv out of haibane-renmie isnt exactly comfourtable editing. While possibly hating the editing process, I persisted through it because I believed that the end result would be worth it, and it was.

If your starting out with editing, make sure yur having fun. But once you've got a bit of experience behind you dont be afraid to endure some pain for your work.

depending on how far I am into a vid I might just drop a project...

but I have only dropped one project so far, so I guess its not all too common...

I usually just keep working on vids till they are done.

sometimes i do feel like droping projects when they go on too long,
when i get too disfocused, i watch other AMV's created by others, or
sometimes my own, that gets my creative juice's flowing again.
other times i just stay away from a project for awhile and make a new one, once i get stuck on the new one, i go back to the old one and
work on that.
it's all about giving yourself breathing room and not setting your
stantards too high. you can always come back to it.

see i try to take it slow now. Like when i made my first amv i cranked in about 8hrs a day for 5 days straight, and i vowed never to do that again. But the hard part for me isnt the keep going part of an amv, b/c once i get started i get up and go. The problem comes when ur in the middle of doing it, and you just run out of inspiration. Ive been stuck for almost 3 days on one part because i just didnt know what to put there.

In any case its all the same, my motivition was there just lack of everything else. But for some reason i sapp a lot of motivaiton from the fact that im one of the few editors who makes hip hop amvs. Its kinda like the rage against the machine thing(a good 98% of amvs are rock or techno, 1.75% is jp music and soundtracks*which is proly wrong but hip hop is a small percent*). Its that and the fact that in every amv comp that i go to and every op that i get, I'm a super underdog, and im subject to mameing because of song choice.

Either that or im just a fuckin crazy fool.
Oh god, that black dude with the afro is always making those damn trash ass music hip hop amvs...he needs to do something with techno or rock....
.......as if I would do something like that.
