Stop the LIP FLAP!

This forum is for the general discussion of Anime Music Videos.

A while back I actually action-synced with someone yelling, come to think of it. Ho boy. Time for the firing squad.

Mainly I'm with Keeper of Hellfire: the harder you try to make rules, the more you demonstrate that you don't understand what you're talking about. There's a vast difference between "you don't cover up flap when it's easy to cover and distracting from your video" and "NEVER USE IT EVER EVER EVER AAAAAAAAGHHHHHH FOAM FROTH RAR."

Anyway, what's your name, you're the same person who started that "What is the purpose of an AMV?" thread, aintcha. How about STOP THE POINTLESS BLACK-AND-WHITE ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT AMVS NOW. THEY ARE IRRITATING.

Well Sarah let me humbly offer you the same advice I offered requiett on that other thread.

Why be so bothered ? If threads like this are not for you then just look the other way. Why strain your brain?

Of course things are not really black and white. No rule is 100% right.

But that doesn't mean that I can't encourage people to cut out the unnecessary and often distracting lip flap! Or, at the very least, some of us who want to discuss the subject can do so.

I think people can make their own choice on what looks good and what looks bad. Or is it that you view yourself as some sort of authority when it comes to AMVs, and everyone needs to heed your advice because our inferior minds are unable to come to conclusions on matters of aesthetics?

Of course everyone makes their own choices on what they like.

If you like a lot of lip flap, sub titles, out of synch whatever, well that's what you like. No one can say otherwise.

On the other hand, if you don't like unneeded lip flap then the same holds true. Does it not?

Then what's with the thread, if you already knew this?

Yeah, and if they don't like lip flap, they'll edit it around it. If they don't, the obviously don't care enough to get rid of it.

Possibly to play devil's adovcate to inspire a discussion. The first post could have used more to get the thread started but it seems the other members have, for the most part, done a decent job writing thought out replies.

It's straining my brain in reverse, kiddo. You aren't advancing any actual ideas here.

And I'd gladly ignore them if you'd shut up for ten seconds instead of flooding the forum with your BS.

Why is it every time a thread comes up where members discuss a subject, we get half a dozen people spamming it and then calling for locks as if the thread were in the wrong, and not the spammers? Don't like it, don't read it. It's not as if we have an overflow of 'discussion-threads' in the forum. If it really disturbs you to see people discussing something, when you don't think it's important enough to discuss, go gripe about it in your journals. So what if the initial post didn't outline the discussion parameters? The discussion got underway within the first page. There's no excuse to come derailing it just because you don't want other people talking about amvs topics.

/this is not aimed at Sarah, who actually took part in the discussion in at least one post
