Fungie½ wrote:Am I really the first to say MeriC? Sheesh people. Seriously, her videos are very, very good, and they seem to have a certain charm about them that keeps me watching. Consistency, I suppose.

I have a lot of other random favorites from AMV creators, favorites where I've downloaded nearly all their stuff and liked one video out of all of them, so, I guess they wouldn't be considered my favorite creators. So yeah.

Erm... I mentioned MeriC under romance ;p

Well, if favourite equals nabbing someone's vids as soon as they appear, then I guess Arigatoumyna, Silver_moon, Sierra_Lorna and Kusoyaro take the cake.

oh yea, for MADs, I should add Pianos(mostly for Secret waltz) and Shine (mostly for recollection)

Vicbond is also one that I generally usually like stuff from, including his one attempt at a MAD.

I love you too guys. XD

Oh well, what's my favourite editor? It's really a harsh question, the first replies this trhead got were talking about "My favourite editor is me", it's not completely wrong, I found this answer quite interesting but generally extremely right. It's also impossible to name a single favourite editor, so..

Well, the Premonitions Studios starring Sierra Lorna and Silver Moon are always been one of my favourite amv creators, and surely my favourite female editors. Decoy is also became one of my favourites, and surely I would like to mention Rurounikeitaro and sasuke2468, that is one of the best WMM editors I've seen. But generally, there are many editors that I like, every one of them made a video that said something special to me, it's hard to judge a favourite editor from the mass and I think this would end into a really too long list instead of what the thread's title says. Kevin Caldwell really made immortal Music Videos, this is sure, and I also really like a lot the editing style, the ideas and the skills of Scintilla.

For me it's not just the videos but the person behind the videos...For just videos, my favorite would be Kusayuro. The range of videos and the quantity (along with the quality) is just amazing that the 'newer' creators can't catch up to.

Sorry but so many 'new' creators have 1 or 2 really good videos and that's it. I like creators who have a large body of work that is good. That they have been around for a long time, and it isn't just a fad/hobby while they are in college. They aren't making videos to win, but make videos because they enjoy what they have made.

Other creators I like alot are Nic Nickerbash, and Scott Malzer.

Fungie's video have a special place, but he needs to make more. I also am currently amazed at how fast Mie'aga has improved in her skills, along with WTF and Armigatoo (SP?), who are both great Yaoi AMV creators.

Well the editors I keep coming back to are MeriC(& mike[VegettoEX]) and Devolution, as they've never made a bad movie ever. I can't remember the first time I saw Meri's works but they were back when she was still using .rm and wasn't on the .org yet(or kept listing her catalog on her site and not mentioning the org yet for some reason). Haha, I'm so lame.

But I think my favorite editors go as follows:
Dcdeveloperx
ssjvegita0609
Khandreia (retired)
KLin (retired)
You Choose,Sam the Rest ("retired")

I go through cycles, really. Sometimes I'll be all like "OMG VICBOND!" and download every single video they've made (yeah, that was me sucking up your bandwidth last year before AWA, Vic) and I do recognize a ton of incredibly awesome editors (all of them named here), but just because you watch a lot of their videos, or they make awesome videos, doesn't mean they're your favorite.

I'm one of those weird people who will download an AMV with the worst quality, editing, and still have logos and subtitles everywhere. And I'll enjoy the video, because of the idea. I give them opinions and the numbers really suck, but I give them flaming applause because I liked it. =)

Probably why I'm not so cool. >_>
<_<

Oh, and to the female people: Everyone assumes you're male because editors are 90% males, really. There were only 3 girls at AWA this year, if I counted correctly. Silvercat, me, and Meri. Go lack of estrogen!

Aqua = chopped liver ? (Not to mention that ilikea was there too).

On topic though, there are a few editors whose work I consistently enjoy :
Suberunker
MexicanJunior
Kwasek
RutKiskasca
Mr. Pilkington/AMV4000
Dokidoki
Rozard
Staces

Along with many others that I can't recall at the moment.

I don't really have a favorite editor. It depends on what video I'm being shown. For example, if it's yaoi, then I'm bound to be more lenient, since I'm a huge fan of it.

However, since we seem to share many of the same interests AMV-wise, I would have to say that IcyCloud is one of my favorites. Anyone who can make a great "Room of Angel" video (and beat me to it...) gets my praise. ^_~

Favorite editors?
Hmmm...

I guess Kevin Caldwell. His videos are what inspired me to start editing more than anything else, and I still greatly enjoy his videos to this day.

Pianos consistently puts out good videos that I enjoy.

JCD has been impressing me as of late.

AluminumStudios also remains a strong favorite.

My favo editor is still the same as the one I started with: William Milberry of Aluminum Studios!!
He has made the first AMV I ever saw with good Sailor Moon Quality.
And for the rest... I surely love the editor Toushi... XD

Aside from all that, there are some editors here I do like.

Steakslim - Your shit is always so theatrical.
Bote - Why would anyone not love this guy's stuff?
Khameleon808 - Doesn't really count much on AMV, but he's one of the best LA editors there is.
PieRow - Needs more moose. And hookers hired by me.
ScarletFire - She synchs better than any other female editor I know. Too bad she quit. Her stuff is too underrated.
Kamoc - His Crawling Up The Walls vid is so fucking awesome, I love him just for that vid alone.

x2 on both of those, severely underrated (though I suppose Kamoc has a fanbase, but it's nowhere near what it should be).
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

As a person who watches a total of about 15 amvs a year (not including my own) I really have a limited amount of exposure.

It's probably no shock that I really enjoy Beowulf's videos. When he breaks out the action in a high powered emotional video like Hail To The Thief or just a pure action fun video like Natural Born Killers I can tell he's not holding back at all. He's definitely careful to maintain pace and emotion... and strangely considerate of the audience he often mocks verbally (outside of the videos)...

Dead to the World is a great example of a piece of work which probably has more meaning to him than any of us could even begin to understand. I can only guess myself what he really thinks as he watches/edits a video of such epic proportions... Alternatively, people who make pandering videos ... do exactly that... they pander to the crowd, often times making it clear that the passion to create and express themselves is not a source of inspiration... instead they are just feeding off of others, which may be the primary reason they will one day quit when their source of inspiration wanes due to the shift in attention to certain amv styles etc. (in the community and fandom in general)

I don't love all of Beo's work. I have my favorites, and they are my favorites because they are incredibly entertaining and powerful. I may have not answered the question properly... because on any given day my mood may change and would force me to consider another as my favorite editor.

There are a whole pile of editors I enjoy... (15 videos can cover a lot of people... roffles :P)
I have sinned. I made a video I wanted to make that was music + anime + sync + action + effects/transitions. Oh lordy.

My ego is apparently being destroyed by not being on any of your lists so now I'm going to cry and do HULK smash on the keyboard and will come back to destroy you all one day.    :P

---------

Ok, it's hard for me to choose a favorite editor since I have so many. With so much new talent coming up, my favorite videos will always be changing which is why I killed off my top10 list.

If there's one editor I'd chose, it would have to be my old mentor/rival Eric Thomas who took my old dbz clips, made videos out of them, and it inspired me to make videos. He's long retired and is now a drummer for a band so he's actually MAKING music and has no time for videos anymore.

Of course his work won't stand in today's field but back in the day I thought his stuff was amazing and I always tried to surpass it and sometimes succeeded and failed. I wouldn't be where I am today without him and I owe him everything.
