I don't wanna speak like the artistic guy, but I never read the comments of the creator of the amv, for one reason :
if something is good (amv, music, book, movie, etc), it has to be good in itself. if you have to understand an underground private joke made in 1975 between two nerds to appreciate the amv, then maybe there is a problem.
although AMVs can't really be classified as "art", it is still a medium that has one and only goal : to create emotions (whether is it laugh, tear, love, fear, etc, is up to you).
so I never read the comments, where some authors might try to save their sorry asses by giving a poor justification of their defaults. However, when I really envoyed an amv, from time to time I will go and see what the author has to say (maybe stealing some good editing tips too

).
I don't look at the stars given either. In a world where brainwashing real TV shows seems to please everyone, it may be clever not to believe the majority's opinion, in order not to be turned into a cheep. Not that I place myself on an upper level ; I am a cheep as well, but still running free from the stupid barking dog.
