What genre do you prefer?

Postby [Mike of the Desert] » Thu Sep 08, 2005 7:44 am

I was asking myself.. "What's the genre people like more?", variety is always good, it's something extremely important, but in my opinion this question have some sense. Many of you could simply answer "If they are edited well, I have no preferences", at least this is what I would answer myself, if a video is well done, I usually don't think too much in the genre. But, think yourself in this situation, without thinking in music or anime, if you have a folder with a video (considering it "really well done" in base of your opinion, of what you like.) for every genre, what you would see first?

Your genre, lol! I would choose sentimental. My favorite AMV's are the ones that come the closest to getting tears out of my eyes. It would have to have effects to. It's rare to find a sentimental video that doesn't have any effects and is still good....except for my current AMV fav.

In my opinion, the best ones are AMVs with many story-telling elements.
But a well-done Action AMV now and then can be nice, too ;)

at conventions and public showings, comedy always gets the biggest reactions and are remembered the most strongly.

sentimental/dramatic and romantic are more geared for private viewing, probably because they require more attention and are more vulnerable to environmental noise. they draw less interest at conventions, but can be very moving in a private setting like viewing on a computer or tv.

as to which kind of video i'd wanna watch first would depend on my mood and my free time. as for favorites - i can watch really good comedies over and over at first, but after a while they get less interesting as the jokes become familiar. on the other hand, sentimental vids rarely have the same initial impact as comedy vids, but really good ones can be watched over and over for a lonnnng time.

My top pick would be the genre so aptly described by Madbunny as "Horror/Comedy".

I like videos that are fun or entertaining. Drama crap bores me to tears.

Favorite genre? Upbeat dance videos of course! 8-)

Especially the ones that uses anime that's rarely used and if there's a good use of effects. Those types AMVs always take first priority for me.

gory comedy, or failing that, anything really besides most sentimental videos, oh, and anything really upbeat. I usually find myself watching comedy videos. Like downwithpants said, its usually mood and how much free time I have.

My favorite genre is, without a doubt, porno. Since there aren't many porno AMVs I've settled on comedy and upbeat/dance as a second favorite.

My favorite Genre is absolutely Gundam. I am just fascinated by giant robots kicking the bolts out of each other.[/quote]
Off we go into the wild blue yonder
Climbing high into the sun
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder
At em boys give er the gun!
Down we dive spouting our flame from under
Off with one helluva roar!
We live in fame or go down in flame Hey!
Nothing'll stop the US Air Force!

I tend to gravitate toward the more sentimental videos, but this changes depending on my mood.

Ahaha. Thanks, even if it does seem like a sign of mental instability. :D

Hentai/Comedy...although stuff with small furry rodents gives me the creeps. (Too many bad memories.) :D
