History of AMV's

Postby Fall_Child42 » Mon Sep 05, 2005 7:21 pm

Well I'm a budding Newbie to the world of AMV's and it got me interested, when did this all start? I've heard tales of people editing with tape to tape, but how long ago did these start? Was it north america who started it? How many countries around the world make these? and when did they start?

So if anyone can inform me on the history of AMV's it'd be much appreciated.

I think there was thread like this before. For the most part, I believe that, there's no definite answer to your question.
"If you're not cheating, you're not trying!" - R.I.P. Eddie Guerrero (1967 - 2005)
Through tragedy, she found triumph. R.I.P. Coretta Scott King (1927 - 2006)
Long live the "King of Pop"! R.I.P. Michael Jackson (1958 - 2009)

Alright.... (I did a quick check for previous threads...as I didn't want to make one that's been made before... guess I missed it...)

That old thread died a good while ago; I think it git auto-locked, so don't worry about it.

a decade or two ago - someone useded two vhs to make the first amv

little under a decade ago - conventions started having amv contests

littler under a decade - phade gave birth to this site

few years ago, this milenium - phade and dero infused to give birth to the donut, a server where amvs can be uploaded freely

ferwer years ago, this milenium - pc's are more powerfull and cheaper, as is software and anime dvds. p2p software got more popular

Theirs the history of amv's, minus any references to kevin kadwell (occasionaly known as god).

Man, I feel like an idiot now.

I was in Japan for 3 months and wouldn't you know, my server crashed the week I got there. Fortunately, everything was sitting on my computer at home, but I sure couldn't get to it then.

Anyway, between coming home, moving back to school, band season starting, and me figuring no one would want to read my stupid thesis anyway, I haven't bothered to fix the site. ごめんよ。

Anyway, it's all back online now for your viewing pleasure.

I'm just happy that someone actually remembered it was around! :D
Yeah, the AMV thesis....that was me.
