Get Fansubs and buy the DVDs.

Before you even ask me HOW, Google it first.

Buying the DVD's is a great idea, but going through VicBond's guide to DVD footage is a pain in the ass! "I'll never get to use my GTO DVD's!" I highly suggest fansubs, in decent quality.

i always wondered about the fansub sources cuz of the amount of naruto amvs (not to leave out other popular series like Bleach) but how do get such great quality and no subtitles, this includes credit-less intro which i have noticed are used in tons of naruto vids. i always thought i would have to buy the fansubbed dvds cuz the subs were an option. right? :?

No, you can get sub-less DVDs by buying R2 DVDs from Japan.

Well, both EADFAG and VicBond's guide presuppose a modest level of intelligence and the ability to read middle-school English, so I can see how either of those could be a problem.

Seriously, don't believe this. Ripping DVDs is a proven method and it's easy if you just follow the instructions.

It's easy to rip off from DVDs the rips without subtitles, if you can avoid them, why rip files with them? :O

It's because Naruto and Bleach haven't been released on DVD here yet, so the only way to get DVD quality, or even to just get the show without subtitles, is by buying the R2s.

It's also possible that half the videos using creditless intros just found high quality fansubs and used Photoshop. *shrug*

The first pain is it's 10 megabytes. The second is one would have to install Acrobat just to read it. :P

EADFAG > VicBond's Guide

Fansubs suck. Use DVDs; buy, rent, or borrow, but don't use fansubs. They are just a big pain in the ass.

Legitimate ways to get sources such as Naruto or Bleach:

www.cdjapan.co.jp <- one of thebetter sources for ordering japanese released DVDs that is not available here. There are other sites aswell, google them.

Theres the option of HKs, but theres 2 problems with this. HKs don't support the original artists in anyway, and often times are garbage quality anyway. Sometimes you get lucky with descent quality, but often times not. I don't recomend this way.

If the show is very new and is not available on DVD here or japan yet, of its a popular show (such as Naruto and Bleach) often times it is fairly easy to find Raws (files that people record from broadcast for use by the fansubbers, but get distributed as is without being subbed first) that are sometimes descent enough quality to use. I can't tell you how to find them on this site, it will break the rules, but use your head, its not that hard to find them.

Ofcourse its always preferable to purchase or at least Rent the DVDs if they are available before resorting to any of the other methods.
