Y0ur Video Player? [The less invasive Player?]

I use DivX Player when I can, and Media Player when I can't.

Also, Michele, if you are using the ffdshow codec that came with AMVApp 2.1 (20050117), AMVs that call the ffdshow VFW configuration will crash Media Players 9 and 10. (You can tell when WMP calls ffdshow by the "FF" icons showing up at the right of your toolbar next to the clock.)

There are new builds of ffdshow available on their website (http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net/tikiwiki/tiki-view_articles.php) that have fixed the problem with crashing the Media Player. The only thing that seems to happen, though, is reinstalling the ffdshow VirtualDub plugin with VirtualDubMod doesn't seem to work.

So, you can install the above if you don't use the ffdshow program to encode / decode with, otherwise stick with the current version and use DivX Player or Media Player Classic.

When I was hooked up by ethernet to the router, then I had no problems.

The problems i was refering to were mostly key-frame related (until you hit a key frame, garbled footage is displayed)... I probably have an older version of VLC though... did they fix that?

I'd assume so. I don't really know. The only times I see garbled footage is if the file is incomplete. Like, VLC will let me watch bits of files that aren't completely downloaded. Then I'll see about half the screen sometimes, and the bottom half will look like it's melting. It would be an awesome video effect, I can tell you that much!

Media Player Classic 90% of the time, WMP 10 or VLC once in a while if MPC has any trouble with it.

I personally Like The Core media player the best so far, and had the least amount of problems with it. Before that I used to use BsPlayer primarily, and the 2 have alot of similarites. I just like the picture quality and layout of The Core a little better. But I have not tried media player classic yet.

I also have VNC installed for whatever doesn't play properly in VFW(Video for Windows) type players.

x2 MPC for me.

I also use VLC to play some files, as it plays incomplete downloads. So I can see if Im downloading complete crap or not.

I used to use media player a lot but then I got the BS player and have been using this most of the time. I'll use VLC with stuff BS couldn't play well.

Same thing here.. I have kept an old nice version of B(ull)S(hit)-player to use and VLC is a backup for those more tricky files.

I still use WMP 6.5 for most videos, I use Media Player Classic for Quicktime and Real Media files (even though I do have Quicktime and RealPlayer on my computer; I sometimes use Quicktime to check the video settings on MOV files, though), and VLC for any troublesome files that may come along (broken AVIs, etc.).

I refuse to use newer versions of WMP or DivX player at all for videos. The only time I resort to WMP10 is for DVDs. For some reason I have more problems when RealPlayer or VLC try to play the things, but WMP10 seems to handle them just fine. Don't know what's going on there.

Media Player 6.4. It's hidden in your /program files/windows media player folder as mplayer2.exe (yes, even you crazy people running WinXP). Direct access to codec settings, no load time, no ugly menu. Gotta love it.

I like using WinAmp, mostly for all it's extra features. mu computer is fast enough so it doesn't normally lag or error out on me. before that I would use WMP 10, but it had so many bugs I had to ditch it. most vids it would tear the synch between video and audio. though I do miss the little toolbar for it that allowed me to watch it in a mini viewer on my toolbar while I was surfing  if I ever found out WinAmp had that I'd be in heaven
