Windows Movie Maker

Postby Sorkuri » Sun Jul 03, 2005 11:25 pm

Plain and simple question... what is the newest version of windows movie maker out?... I have the very base version that comes with XP and it doesn't have all the cool features like my buddie's does, but he said he got an automatci update... which i didn't get. So if someone could gimme the name (2.0.0etc.) and maybe where i could download it, that'd be super. :D

If you have Windows XP, there should already be a section for automatic updates. Just turn it on in the settings area. As for what's the most updated version, I'm not sure, you'd just have to turn on your updates. If you go to your start menu, you should see "Windows Update" towards the top. Try that.

Also, this is the wrong forum to start this thread. Next time try this forum instead.

Well, if your Windows is pirated, I doubt you'll be able to update anything. And, according to forum rules, "Thou shalt not use pirated software", and no one will be able to tell you where to get Window Movie Maker. In that case, if you are serious about editing, and you really want to get the newest version, your only course of action would be to buy a legit copy of Windows XP.

You can get Windows Movie Maker 2 for free from download.com, I know it's there but I don't have the exact link.

Since when does download.com offer illegal downloads?
Windows Movie Maker has always been a free download for anyone with Windows XP (from Microsoft's website), so I don't see the issue here.

So, let me get this straight-

You can still use Microsoft Update if your copy of XP is pirated?
See, I wasn't aware of that.
Sorry to mislead you, I thought you were saying that you couldn't use Update BECAUSE your XP is pirated....
Couldn't hurt to try Windows Update and see if it works, though.

I never said that... :?:

I actually don't know if it's possible; my copy of Windows XP is legal, so.

I have a pirated copy of Windows XP pro since my legit copy of home ran out of CD key uses from reformating so much. You can't get automatic updates with the pirated copy unless you use a CD key changer. But I find the windows updates rather useless and annoying so I dont bother updating. SP2 is annoying and sucks.

But for the versions of Movie Maker, there is 2.0 for SP1 users and 2.1 for SP2 users. Not much of a difference between 2.0 and 2.1.
