Non-A MVs

Postby Shador » Fri Jun 24, 2005 8:16 pm

Just wondering if people have ever done this concept with non-anime shows. Some of them have pretty interesting and intense plotlines too. If anyone knows of a place that may have these, let me know.

Thanks,
Shador

I know that Dallascaper runs a website dedicated to Farscape and has tons of vids for that show, which, if you're (or not) familiar ran on SciFi for 4 years. Everything from Cherry Lips to Queen.

I'm sure there are tons more fanvid sites.

A lot of creaters, including myself, make Live Action/Non-Anime Music Videos, it's just they can't be shown here. With the acception of the "Live in 05" contest ran by Khameleon, and original animation made by an editor, there is almost zero tolerance for non-anime material on the org now and days.

There's plenty of places to host now, anyway...

Non-AMV's can be fun. And even more interesting is seeing your work in a context outside of the AMV community.

Frankly, I've been quite shocked by my recent mostly-non-AMV foray - because it received more downloads and praise in a couple of days after release than all my AMV's combined :|

Oh yeah? Got a link to a few? I've been editing non-A MVs before I found this place. The funny thing is that the techniques and styles I was exposed to here will really help my other projects. I still enjoy working on AMVs more though.

Well, there's two ways of hosting a non-AMV.

1) Use a free hosting service. The best one I know of right now is Rapidshare.de - which allows up to 50mb, without any registration. The only issue with it is that some people can't always use it properly due to tricky proxy setups their ISP's use. (...and some people can't find the "Free" button on it, too...)

2) The better but trickier way: find a dedicated community server for whatever it is that you used for your source. For instance, if it's a video game, find a community centred on that game; same if it's a movie or something like that. There usually are people on there who would be more than willing to host it for you. If they like it, they will even promote it! (...which they've certainly done in my case...)

Or pay money to host them.

Oh wait...

Otakus who watch anime and don't make amvs are millionaires. Hence the tons of download sites with a million banner ads...

People who make amvs are the ones who are poor....

I've made a few non-anime music videos, and I will again at some point. While live action and other forms of animation are cool, what intrigues me the most are possiblities offered by in-game footage. These can give the director scene set up and camera control, both of which I'd love to play with. 8-)

Sorry. I'm not sure if you directed this towards me. I was actually asking to see some of your non-A MVs.

I just finished a non-amv that I like to call Hells Smiths.

If your lucky, you might catch a non-amv in the amv announcments from time to time (Linked offsite) but you would need to search for em. found a LOTR vid (Xnod's)and a vid made from The Passion of Christ (Beowulf's) there. You can also find some game MV's there like Resident Evil 4 (Castor Troy's) vid.

I would get some links but I have no more time =P hope this helps.
