Seisiga-MAD: Japan enters AMV's

Postby Rurounikeitaro » Wed Jun 15, 2005 9:12 pm

? What the hell is this? WTF!! I watched 2 of these type of AMV's from creators that said they are both from Japan. That shit is sick!! The 2 examples I have seen are:
Recollection - shine@G2
Chaos -Around the M@D- - cyuson

These AMV's are old but I just found saw them today because I noticed 2 AMV's high in the top 10% with only 15 to 16 opinions on them. That "Chaos" AMV almost look like a play-around type of vid. Imagine if that guy/girl went serious? Shit!! Japan did make anime and kick the crap out of our cartoon stuff when they invaded America, but we like our own AMV's!!

Damn, I had my mouth open the whole time during both AMV's! At first I thought Recollection was made by a Vicbond fan, until he went all berserk with those f-ing effects. Just check um out and see for yourself. Sorry if you guys noticed this stuff before, but for the others who didn't, you'll be freaking suprised.....

Yes, Those Japanese editors are really talented, and have a really different style of editing..

I still drool on some of their effects.. They're really well done, and bah.. If only I knew Japanese <.<

I just downloaded another one by shine@G2 called Truth where he said "I was used Visual-Effects, however its very very shameful". Hey!! If that's shameful, then my old Windows Movie Maker vids are.....are......damn, can't think of anything that much worst then shameful!

Grrr.... Now I have to start learning to use my After Effects! America, Europe and any other place can be as cool as you Japan!! Here we come!!

I hope more MAD creators find this place and upload their MADs. I especially like for that MAD creator who made the Azurewind MAD video which uses Air to upload that since that looks gorgeous and very dramatic.

I think if I saw 'around the M@D' as my first AMV, I don't think that I'd ever attempt making one...

geesh, talk about effects... I haven't even mastered the crossfade yet...

I'm sorry, but shut up and stop splooging over MADs like they're the best thing ever to happen.

I'm not saying that they're better or worse, but it does no good to elevate Japanese fanvids over Western (America/Europe, for the most part) fanvids just because editors in the former tend to go more overboard on effects and do some insane things.

When it comes down to it, AMV vs. MAD is just a matter of different styles. I'm sure there are mediocre Japanese editors just as there are mediocre American editors. Do not needlessly put one scene on a pedestal.

You have spoken heresy against both the invincible holy armies of the Empire of Japan and the Knights of the After Effect. I'm afraid that we will now have to put you to death.

I wonder how many people will take this seriously.

Actually, there are some VERY VERY bad looking M@Ds out there as well. Me and Zarxrax chewed through some.

I warned him not to download 100+ each day, he wouldn't listen, lo and behold, like only 20% or so of SOOO MANY M@Ds are of those qualities being spoken of here.

Like AMVs, there are horrible MADs too so calm down peeps ^_^

I like Gaijin Factory ^_^

Heh, yea... it's just like assuming that ALL Russian AMV's are teh win by seeing some of the high-ranked work that made it from AKROSS Con on here. Which, of course, is entirely untrue - but that doesn't diminish the value of the individual outstanding authors involved

For the AB2005 AMV Panel intro vid, I had 3 日本人 watch a variety of AMVs and MADs - they were equally impressed by both styles.

Also, two out of three thought Vic was Japanese, all were frightened by MJ, and none were impressed by Euphoria.

Or different styles plus Japanese citizenship. It's not the style alone because the creator must be Japanese in order for it to be a MAD. An effectsy vid in a similar style by an American (or Canadian or Australian, or any non-Japanese person) is an AMV according to our recommendation section on the forum. Japanese (plus effects?) = MAD. Anything by anyone else is an AMV.

That said, I've never watched a MAD because of the style (read effects). I have trouble with non-Japanese effect music videos, so there's not much call to watch Japanese effect music videos. But I can see where people would elevate MADs above AMVs. After all, they're the only music videos allowed on the site that aren't considered amvs. We wouldn't call them by a different name if we didn't mean to separate them from all the non-Japanese music videos here. Once you separate them from all other videos, it's natural to question which is better, the 'only Japanese can make these' MADs, or the 'everyone else makes these' AMVs. Discount the 'style', which is not dependent on where you were born, and all it really comes down to is "is the creator Japanese or not?"

Oh, I believe it. Piano and Kaicho went to AWA 10; from what I've heard in con reports, they love AMVs, too.

There's some small print in my last post, though.
