Custom Music Work: trenthian of OCremix needs practice

Postby trenthian » Sun Jun 05, 2005 7:44 pm

Hello folks,

I need people to contact me on aim over the next few days, if they would like for me to add a custom soundtrack to an anime intro or or such.

I am looking for videos to spot to help train me for a project my friend is doing and the practice would be lovely.

so yeah, I will be writing either classic orchestral

or ochestral/synth/rock hybrids to them.

of course not all who message me will get one done, as i still have to review the actual video.

out of all videos sent or mentioned to me,
I will only be accepting 3 for valid consideration of a custom soundtrack to them.

If you are selected that would then make you the artistic director, in charge of talking to me and relating what you might like to see where, and such, as far as pace and mood goes. one of the 3 I will take super creative license on and completely ignor all art direction, one of the three I will half implement the director and my ideas, and the other, the director will get 2 3rds a say.

if you are interested in helping a brother out so to speak, aim me.

Wow, this is certainly interesting, especially considering the derisive treatment you OCRemixers gave the NES Project.

In any case, I think you may be a bit mistaken. Most people here are editors, not animators.

There's a few animators. Very few. You'd probably have better luck with the machinima crowd, they have way more control over their sources.

It would probably be interesting to give him a completed amv and let him write a new song for it and see how it turns out :p

Make an AMV without sound, then write the music for it? That might be cool. I approve.

It would require a keen sense of rythm. That or just bult it around a drum beat to keep things even. I would be interested to see how it turns out, especially if it was a mood video. Instead of matching the mood of the music, write music to match the mood of the clips.

I've always wondered why noone came up with that yet. Someone mentioned Machinima - and I indeed have seen videos done on this principle (for instance, vids that have multiple audio tracks for the same vid - audio tracks which are mixes made to go along with the visual).

Well, then again, the obvious fact is that we don't have as much control over our footage as we'd like (compared to GMV's)

Looks like pwolf's working on a video to one of your tracks trenthian. Although he might change it soon :?
"The way I'm doing it I haven't seen anyone else do EVER. I'm spending so much time on this one and like I said, my formula is working out rather well. All of the series I'm using are just flowing into eatchother, and rather than representing a character from a series, their basically representing good or evil. I know this one will stand out from the rest. I'm confident it will. " - Sephirothskr

just to clear stuff up... anything is game...

I want existing video, original or not. anything would do really. I need the practice.

if you have anime trailers, vg/anime footage or anything, if its avi or mpeg I ideally would like to spot 5 vids, and work on 3.

this would be to train me for my friends project and have some fun in the wait between now and then.

I've already got one video candidate,

I hope it isnt the last.

im really just whoring people out to give me 1-3 minute video assets that would allow me a great deal of musical expression.

of course if someone hear wanted to make an AMV to a click track at 140 -160 bpm I'd totally be down for a collaborative original song for a new amv :)

of course, you wont have much music to go by besides the click track, but when I get your completed vid, I'd spot it and put music to it.

here is a song Im pimping these days. 95% completed from my game demo OST.

Click me Im irish! You can dl the song there. (MP3) its about 3.4MB

You might not find that many people who are interested in doing experimental "click track" AMV's, especially since it's going on convention season and a lot of people are in the middle of large projects.

However there is no reason you couldn't ask a creator if they would be interested in you making a new soundtrack to an existing AMV.

This has a couple of benifits, for one the cuts will be consistant and there will also be pre-made elements like mood synch and effects for you to time the music too. Some AMV's have repeated effects which would show you what the beat is.

The only thing about this idea is that you should NOT listen to the original music, no matter how great the temptation. The out of context originality is what makes it so interesting, so you should immediatly open it up in Vdub and strip off the audio track and delete it (You can probably also use Virtual Dub to put on your own soundtrack with no loss of video quality.)

Recomondations:

Damaged Rei-Mix (This is probably your best bet)

I Love the Matrix (Very technical/lots of internal synching)

Lift Me Up (lots of cuts)
(NOTE: I have not contacted any of thease editors.)

Or you could look for slower videos and concentrate on mood synching.

Any one else have suggestions?

I'd also like to see him work with my Boogiepop Phantom vid, but that'd just be ego inflation...

It's not exactly clear to me what exactly you are saying.

However... why not just use a 3 minute scene from an anime that has not been edited and put music to it? Lots of the Ghibli films, among others, have scenes that are purely cinematic and could easily have scores written for them, or their existing scores changed.
