Some amv songs makes me want to get the music. If you look at some of my itunes playlist I am sure you would see a lot of amv songs on there. Sometimes it gets to the point where I like the song more than the video itself. When that happens I just close my eyes or get lost so much into the song that I can see anymore. It's not just other people but I do this with the videos I made as well. I got another song thanks to something I saw at ACen. It is good publicity for the musicians.

Whats ACen.And i know wht you mean i would love the music so i would play it over and over. Not caring about the video itself.Sometimes it the music that makes the AMV Even though some would say its the other way around.I gues 75% of he time its the music.

ACen is a convention called Anime Central. I agree that the music makes the video most of the time. Without the music I don't see how many of the videos out there would be done.

I hear music diferently once I've seen a good music video to it. I notice the beats that the creator synched to and It recals the imagery of the video and any story or mood that the creator used.

I dunno if this goes for some others but a lot of the music I've bought is because of amvs. Sometimes music seems more catchy if it has a good video to it, so I'm with Melanchthon on that one.

AMVs got me to buying a lot more music AND anime. I must have bought at leasts 4 different DVD anime box sets/OAVs and CDs over the last few months just because of the AMVs I have seen. Luckily most of the anime I have bought were as good as the AMV. I have seen some AMVs which made the series look even better than it really was.

So you're mainly asking how to find new music, or how some of us find new music? To be frank, the way you form your sentences and use punctuation and whatnot makes it hard to understand. I don't mean to offend you, but is English your first language?

Anyhow, my answer to my posed question: I check out my local music store. I don't mean the store in the mall (although FYE is good). This is the Mom and Pop store on the side of the road. Typically, you get people who are really into music and have wide tastes that could point you in directions based on what you like. Also, they typically have used CDs, and you can listen to them to see what you like. The reason I mentioned FYE is that they have a similar system, where you can preview about 30 seconds of each track of just about every CD in the store.

Another way, a less legal way, is playing the "Word Game" on download clients. I've found a lot of great songs, and even some artists I now love, just by entering a random word into the search field. Try something like "clear," "iron," "run," or "read." Just any old word you can just think of, search for it, see what comes up, download and listen to it.

I recognize this, too. A good amv really intensifies the experience of a song. I can think of many song I would not have come to love (as much) or even care about at all if it wasn't for amv's: "Engel", "Believe", "Chihuahua", "All-Star", etc.

Also, a great song can make a not-so-great amv look better; I've kept certain amv's around on my HD for a long time until I realized it was really the song I liked, and the video itself was really a half-assed job.

Amv's not only strengthen your feeling about certain songs, but can, as it's been said, be a great source for new music to listen to. If it wasn't for amv's, I'd never have come across songs like "Sinoi Yami No Na Ka", "Superfreak", "Stuck in the Middle with You" or The Goops' cover of "Build Me Up Buttercup".

DDR Project 4 got me into liking "Oops! I Did It Again". I hate you people for this. It's also fun to play with Stepmania <3
(..at least it's Rochelle's mix so I still have some dignity left.)

That's not the only example.. so yes, seeing an AMV does affect how I like the music, and there are times when I have found a new music or band to like from viewing AMVs.

Gotta agree with FoxJones. I have watched several AMVs to songs I wouldn't listen to by themselves for longer than 5 seconds. Those videos then actually got me into liking this song.
A great example is Nothing Can Stop Us by silver_moon.

I mean about "Nothing Can Stop Us" being a great example.

One thing that I have learned is that crappy (as in one dislikes it) music doesn't automatically mean bad AMV.
