DDR Take 2: Mercy Killing

Postby TommyRude » Mon Oct 07, 2002 1:48 pm

Okay y'all, do to an overall lack of interest, I'm pullin the plug on the failed DDR experiment jus' a little under a month after is' conception.
Basically, we only had about 9 people working on it to begin wit, then a bunch went awol. Then a few of the people left jus' flaked out. So, I don' wanna deal wit it. Leading a project is one thing, but I can't lead it if it doesn' even get off the ground.
I'm a little pissed about this, yo. First off at the people who committed, then jus' decided they didn't wanna do it.
Second, because what I said before was true. I think it sucks that the DDR Project guys would lay claim to every mix from 2-7, an' get all bent outta shape about someone using one of them too. But fact is, there's nuthin I can do about it because they ARE seen as the ruling class of this comunity an' the masses take whatever they say as law. Sucks, but is' true.
So anyway, you win Hsien, jus' like y'said y'would.

Peace

Greetings all!

We have deemed it the appropriate time to finally step out of the shadows and proclaim our rulership over the AMV community! Bow down before us, fools or you shall all perish!

Hear our proclamation thou miserable swine and tremble forthwith!

We do so decree that there shalt be no DDR Project other than the Real DDR Project! Except for other DDR Projects that actually take the hard work and time to succeed, forsooth.

Remember faithful followers, if thou dost talketh the talk, thou must walketh the walk!

K, I'm gonna ignore the above to posts as they are entirely irrelivant. But everyone warned you Tomy about the people who wouldn't work. I found out during DDR 1 from Nick that the project was plagued with people who weren't doing the work and who didn't even have equipment yet. So not only did you deal with those slackers you also created a competitive project, thereby dividing people apart and they whent to the established project rather than yours. Look how fast the NES project got off the ground? The trick is getting people's intrest and getting it going outside of just saying, "I'm starting project X."

It's a good thing I got "stuck" at the 10second mark for my track... Then this post comes up...

Had I finished my track, I would have probably had to go out and proverbially shoot someone...

Well, I guess my chances at jumping on DDR just went down da tubes...

Actually, I think you don't realize how bad things were on the first DDR project last year! Tracks were assigned, then dropped, then not done, etc, etc... The whole thing was a nightmare to do to begin with! So I'm not supprised with a second project that things would be worse since it's it's already hard getting one done....

In terms of this whole rulling class thing, I think I saw people express thier opinions and I don't think I saw anyone hold a gun to anyone's head to have the project dropped.... It actually would be nice to have several project to be involved in, but I'm just not sure there is editors with the time and commitment to do so many tracks (Just as ErMaC about the other project he started, it's still short on editors)...

Sorry, man...there's still a chance for you to get onboard DDR3 though, we're still working out track selection.

I think we have three projects now. With the status as follows...

DDR3 = Still in the works, from what I understand it won't be till late october or early till we see track selection up.

Anipaira = Basically almost go but still needs a few more creators.

NES = Got started real quick but still in the conceptual stages.

There's nothing wrong with other muti-editor projects popping up. But you gotta respect the ones that already exist and try to be a little original. Tommy, your approach to it wasy very abrasive and that's why it gained some negative reaction.

As far as "the ruling class," that sounds like a name someone decided call someone else, and not what any group thinks of themselves.

i agree....anyone who thinks there is a ruling class around here is mistaken. There are just dolts and non-dolts. It seems the makeup of this site is primarly dolts but there are the gems out there. Since the non-dolt people know what they are doing and generally a bit older and more mature, it may seem like a ruling class, but it really isn't. Don't get so bent out of shape over this. No one wanted you to fail.....I certainly didn't. It would have been cool to have another multi-editor project. Running a big project like that is hard...as the posts say, the first ddr project was a royal pain and was laced with tough stuff to deal with. DDR2 was much better because they learned from the first one. Just take this as a learnign experience and try again.

Editors like you? So your assuming your a better AMV artist than Tommy? HELLS NAA!!! I've seen your work and it doesn't compare to any of Tommy's work at all! I've heard about your rep and it's BS, the fact that you think you got the upper hand on Tommy is crap. Oh and his abandonment, that's just due to lazy ass people who don't wanna do jack! Seriously, I really don't know why you would include people who don't even have a computer in a project (as mentioned in the 1st ddr project). Another thing it's not that hard to make a AMV, so don't think your all special. However there is few people who will create something that is just outstanding and needs to be given recognition (once in a full moon). Not every AMV is a piece of art, regardless of who even created it.
