Heh, I know the feeling, I've been working on a video to Schism by Tool (around 8 min) for a good 5 months now. But then again I only work on it a few days a month.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

Welcome to the incredible black hole of time that is AMV editing.

Though it seems like it will take forever, and never end, don't be discouraged. Take a few days off, if you need to. You might even have new & better ideas when you sit down to edit again.

Try to believe that every bit of frustration you feel will be turned into a sense of achievement, and multiplied by 10 once you finish your vid. :)

Good luck, keep pluggin'

If you loose steam though ... you might loose your audiences attention. Maybe taking a break, or rewatching the show you're using will reenergize you or give you ideas to make it more interesting.

Now THAT is saying welcome to the horror that is... AMV editting...

it doesn't actually take me long to make amvs because i dont use premiere because it costs a bomb. i use videdit (aka video 4 windows) its so easy to use but it has no effects or features. i once finished an amv in a few hours and it was good. i now have 20 seconds of my next one which i have spent 20 mins on.

Mine take me in the upwards of 40+ hours on average and I use Studio DV. Although those 40+ hours only count capturing and editing and rendering and thus those 40 hours are over the course of a month to a month and a half. If you include concept and planning you can ad in anotehr twenty hours over the course of a month.
