Creative vs. the fans...

Postby OmniStrata » Mon Sep 16, 2002 10:25 pm

Ok, this is for those of you editors who've recieved like "both" types of reviews...

type a: fanboy. Very short. Usually screams in 20 words or less, "THIS VIDEO ROCKED/SUCKED!"

type b: creative and detailed. aka Xanthrax/MexicanJunior style reviews. 20 pages of drivel which makes you want to read till your eyes fall out...

Which vids of yours received the most of type a and which other vid received the most of type b?

For me, more fanboys/girls loved "Kagome's Heart" by far. I think "Moonlight Vengeance" got the biggest most useful reviews from people. [thanks to both groups though...]

Well? Which vids do YOU have!

:D

"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)

And why the hell are my Inu Yasha vids so damn loved?!

I don't even LIKE Inu Yasha that much...

It's a good anime and all but still. WHAT'S WITH YOU PEOPLE!?

Lost Dreams... mostly type B (AWESOME reviews) 8)

many many thanks the extensive reviewers... and even to those who write a short one... at least you put SOME feedback. :D
I have sinned. I made a video I wanted to make that was music + anime + sync + action + effects/transitions. Oh lordy.

Really neither. I've gotten longer creator responses (thanks MJ), and fanboy/girl responses. But the majority of my reviews are just one or two paragraph reviews from creators.

Not everybody writes a book when they do a review, though there are those that do (MJ, AD, heck I'll include myself since I'm on the list)
Everyone is not the same as you.
Get over it.
And lighten up.

I have few reviews due to the inability to actualy post my videos anwhere on the net. But my Blue Sub video has recieved type B but it also got a type A with the following comment...

"I ranked it low on reviewability because I got depressed watching the video."
-_- for the love of God it was a drama about war, since when was war all happy and peppy?

In other cases, I like to think I leave type b reviews but still they are rather short.

Yeah, but that's still a valid criticism. Reviewability is dependant on whether someone wants to watch it again - this person doesnt because the video was depressing. It's called being honest. This is the reason why reviewability isn't taken into account in the top 10% scoring system because low reviewability doesn't necessarily depend on the actual quality of the video.

Umm, actually it is taken into account. In fact it accounts for 1/3 of the total score. As you can see from the equiation at the bottom of the page:

score = avg(compscore+overall+review)
compscore is the average of all the other categories other than overall and review.

So you see, Review and Overall in fact account for MORE of your score than anything else.

Service With a Smile - Mostly type B with some type A intermixed

I'm grateful for every review I've gotten though, both big and small. :D

Well I'm not making my vids any happier for that reason. I don't trust reviewabiity as AD has already said for such reasons, just some times the reasons behind not watching them can be kind of obnoxious. Do I need bunnies and sunflowers to make that guy watch something?
