There isn't any REALLY good AND impressive lip synch videos out yet. But maybe, things will change come a few months time.

Lip synch can be easy or hard, depending on how good you want it to look, much like a video really.

Actually, I do have a copy of Engel. ^_^ It's an excellent video and fitting lip synch, but what makes a REALLY good, impressive lip synch video is one that does ALL of the below.

1. Fits the narrative purpose/situation of the video.
2. Voice of the character fits the creator's intent.
3. Involves a moving non-static background.
4. Involves a moving non-static character. (position and angle)
5. Have proper mouth movements timings.
6. Have proper mouth SHAPES based on the word that is being sung/said.
(saying 'O' means the mouth must be roundish in shape, not rectangular)
7. Have proper facial expression/emotion based on the meaning of the words.
8. Have proper body language to what's being mouthed (if seen).
9. Have other characters react properly to what being mouthed. (if seen).
10.Other relistic details, like inhaling before exclaiming, etc.

^_^

Good list...however even in anime they don't tend to do more then just have an open and closed position to the mouths. My most recent video CSS has some interesting Lip Synching that fits into several of the points you make.

1. This is only matters in a non-comedy setting.
2. This tends to happen.
3. I've seen this done. Scott Melzer knows how to do this well.
4. This is really tricky to do, but it can be done. You really just have to get lucky that the character is talking in the same sentence structure as what you want to use. (I have some of this in my CSS video).
5. People try for this, and do pretty well. But even in Anime with the professionals the dubbing sometimes doesn't match.
6. I wish characters had the mouth shape thing, but most of the time they don't.
7. This is usually done. (Unless it's comedy)
8. This can be done.
9. This can be done as well.
10. Usually there is no inhailing in the music we use. Or there isn't time to place it in the video.

Alot of things can be done, but using them in combination can be very tricky. We are after all taking something in Japanese and trying to make it fit English words. Their sentence structure is different to start out with.

Panda -

Putting this image, along with screaming loud high pitched at the end of your 'demo' video is like... SO not funny.

Image

I mean really, isn't there enough of that online?
I was like this:
[i] "Hey... this is pretty good, subtitles need to go, but this will be a good vid..."
*video abrubtly stops and screams*
"asgaghahahahaahA RESPECT FOR PEERS: FALLING!"

Possibly maybe. Somewhat. At lot of effort at the very least, if one is performing not a combination of a few but employing ALL of the above 'features' in a single video.

But the future isn't here yet. And the waiting is painful.

I agree, the lip sync in Engel really isn't very good. Dont you think that the lip sync in Believe is really great though? Of course its not perfect, but some of the best out there. Have you seen my vid The fanservice video: Bouncing back for more I thought I executed the lip sync quite spectacularly in it... In fact I think it even conforms to most or all of those rules you set forth.
