Questions about using subtitles

Post by iball » Sat Mar 29, 2014 9:28 pm

I am doing a Redline AMV where I am trying to make it story like and more serious. I want there to be scenes where there is talking *music drops and then picks up again*. I really don't want to use the english audio and would prefer to keep the japanese audio, but then I would have to use subtitles. I know that usually subs are frowned upon during amvs but what about for when I actually want the user to understand them talking?

It's really only hard subtitles that can't be removed from footage that you should avoid. If you add subtitles yourself for the sake of storytelling, then there's no fault in that. I even did it in my latest video .
