Animated wrote:No one gives opinions anymore - not even comments, no one cares about the org contests (except for the contestants), all the great old editors are gone.?? What happened? Is this really a dying hobby?

Also, what can be done to save what can be saved? Would the org's redesign help at all? Would a big international contest (AMV Olympics) change anything?

Contests have played a big part in ruining the hobby and played no small part in why activity here has dropped off in the way it has.

The best thing the Org could do for itself right now would be to take (at least) a year off from holding contests.

If you want to know, my friend and I'm not going to lie: From the beginning of this year I started to not feel comfortable with the org. In other years normally I respected the authority of the org as a community of amv edition, but in the last videos, I have noticed there's no more feedback for the videos. There;s no real intention of helping other editors, to help improve videos, so I decided to move out to amvnews since I have found that the community there helps more than the org, so that the last proyects have received feedback mainly from the news, rather than the org. And that's the reason of my decision.

If I comment a video here, it's because I previously watched it in youtube or other sites. It doesn't matter how much the org could promote about the techncial aspect of amv making: If there's no real help here, then it's useless.

I guess I'm not the only one with this thought: I have noticed in the newbies, intention and hope to improve and they trust this site as a possible solution, but when taking part here, you see you will have to take your time to find the people that could be a help. And in which case, there aren't much, just a few ones

Well I don't know if we can say that the hobby is dying simply because the Org isn't used as it was before. As the others said, AMVs are now in a lot of different places, and maybe the Org has not that appeal compared to the others alternatives.

I'm quite surprised the Org is still around given it's age and how it's pretty much runs on user donations (I'm guessing)? I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if there were users that are younger than the Org itself (I dunno about editors though, I'd probably be surprised)?

The way I look at it is that the org may be dying.I don't usualy post my videos here since I think I am not good enough to do it so other editors may think like me.
Also as more people here said there are many "beta" amvs that never go to full and org is not a place that those "betas" belong.(I have never made a full too but working on it :p)
Probably its just a phase that the org is going through that can be ended. If more people (including myself) start giving feedback the best they can I think that more amvs will come to the org once again.

As far as the Glory days that is very subjective.??

I would say there was a boom in people making AMVs as technology made it so easy.?? but I would always say it is better to have quality over quantity. Like Vlad has mentioned the internet has changed and people don't need the org to make their stuff available as much anymore.

What ever happened to the org's redesign? Remember a couple of years ago when people were talking about it but now the poor org is in some sort of limbo, unable to move forward.

I actually just started making AMVs it takes alot of work and time if you can believe it. I've noticed alot of hate on the interweb lately. I just wanted to express what I could do, though I'm still learning my editing software I enjoy making my videos. No reason for there to be so much hate, all the normal places you should be able to go to just so much hate. But this is the internet so its to be expected. Not going to try promoting a specific video or anything but if you're curious of my page, you can message me. Only saying that because people seem to get annoyed.
