What do you do when you get a video block?

Postby Nunusaur » Wed Jul 17, 2013 4:11 pm

I'm currently faced with a video block, I've been listening to that specific part of the song on repeat for the entire day and still can't get past it. Has it ever happened to you, or do I just suck that badly? I also tend to space out a lot, my brain just goes blank in times like these. Not good.

If you haven't completed all the sections that had inspired the idea in the first place, bounce around and get them done. I find going through the motions looking for clips for those segments tends to give you more inspiration for the other parts.

Some people take a break from it. They'll either work on another video for a bit, do an IC, play some games, just blow off steam in general.

Honestly. I do nothing during a video block. It's a matter of wanting to be productive and getting shit done that gets me into gear. Also learn to not be a seasonal editor.

Usually I take a break. Maybe even start on a different project, get tired of that then come back. Most of the time, my on and off desire to not be a pathetic waste of a human and actually do something is motivation enough. |:>

Based on the thread title, I'd say this is a question for Vlad. I heard that dude's got, like, twenty goddamn video blocks. :ying:

As others have suggested:
Work on another part of the song...

I tend to fish for clips for other parts while I fish for clips on parts I'm actually working on...

Take a break, eat something, play a game, take a walk.
