Fourth Questionset for Questions on Forefathers...

...from before forks were formed for eating fortune cookies during foreplay for reasons foretold by four fortunetellers before they were forced to formulate formulas for forging forts to protect their ford mustangs.

Question 1 wrote:Who's your favorite editor(s)?
My all time favorite editor would have to be Borihiei, since his Totoro video inspired me in every shape and form to start editing.
Question 2 wrote:What can you tell me about your favorite editor as an editor and/or a person?
He has one twisted mind.
Question 3 wrote:Who was your biggest mentor, or who was the closest thing to a mentor you had?
Probably a lot of the people I talk to on skype. All of my beta testers and the people in Digital Memory Studios have all taught me something that you can see in my videos.
Question 4 wrote:What editors are or were the biggest influences to your work?
Question 4a wrote:How exactly did they influence you? What qualities present in your work can you trace back to those editors?
Again, Borihiei is probably the main source of inspiration. His works made me want to look at a story in a completely different way, and just turn it on it's backside. A prime example would be . If you notice in most of my videos, they all have a bad ending and mostly end in death or tears. Shin, Meatwad, and Ileia are probably the other sources of inspiration since I watched their videos before I started editing.
Question 5 wrote:What outside of the online vidding community has influenced your work?
Question 5a wrote:How has it influenced your work?
I was a graphics designer before I started editing, so it gave me an eye for quality. It also made it easier to do some coloring since I know what colors mesh well together and the composition modes are pretty much the same on photoshop.
Question 6 wrote:Who are some influential people in AMVs and what are they responsible for?
An obvious one would be Nostromo, for showcasing a lot of beat sync and other cool effects. Shin, probably just for being the "people's editor". Most of his works just appeal to the general masses -- amv editors or not -- and it's also edited in a way that's inspiring to other editors. Dunno any others since I haven't been in the community long enough.
Question 7 wrote:Are there any somewhat unrecognized editors you wish to promote for any reason?
Question 7a wrote:Umm...seriously? Why that person(s)?
Probably my favorite editor, haha. >.> I'm pretty sure he's only known inside Anime Boston, since he only submits there. His works are awesome!
And then probably everyone in PB studios (except meatwad because he's already recognized). I enjoy a lot of their videos and they need some lovin'! :D
Question 8 wrote:Any of you old seasoned editors wanna give some advice on anything?
-skips- xD
Question 9 wrote:Is there anything else related to this subject you'd like to add or any questions you think should be asked as well?
Not that I can think of.
Question 10 wrote:How can the noob below you improve on his editing? NO CHANGING ANSWERS!

Question 1 wrote:Who's your favorite editor(s)?
That's easy, Megamom and koopiskeva. The former one for his ambient and experiments which are close to my style, the latter one for his awesome dedication, great detailed videos and fun attitude which makes it easy to be around him ^^
Question 2 wrote:What can you tell me about your favorite editor as an editor and/or a person?
See question one ;D (also crossdressing Megamom!)
Question 3 wrote:Who was your biggest mentor, or who was the closest thing to a mentor you had?
I suppose mirkosp - he learned me all I know about technical stuff. It only goes up from there.
Question 4 wrote:What editors are or were the biggest influences to your work?
Question 4a wrote:How exactly did they influence you? What qualities present in your work can you trace back to those editors?
I suppose mirkosp, Megamom, koopiskeva, ZetZu, godix, and others. Mostly by their videos, betatesting or just generally by talking to them.
Question 5 wrote:What outside of the online vidding community has influenced your work?
Question 5a wrote:How has it influenced your work?
One brief experience of video editing IRL (never again, I suppose) and people around me who watch my videos and want more~
Question 6 wrote:Who are some influential people in AMVs and what are they responsible for?
I am the most influential person around here. Bow to me! |:
Question 7 wrote:Are there any somewhat unrecognized editors you wish to promote for any reason?
Question 7a wrote:Umm...seriously? Why that person(s)?
Jarnik, Czech editor. He produced some epic level videos, but as he's fairly shy and stuff he never got discovered in the world. So - go and watch his videos. You'll probably love those.
Question 8 wrote:Any of you old seasoned editors wanna give some advice on anything?
I AM NOT OLD! D:
Question 9 wrote:Is there anything else related to this subject you'd like to add or any questions you think should be asked as well?
I have the strongest feeling of déja-vu right now.
Question 10 wrote:How can the noob below you improve on his editing? NO CHANGING ANSWERS!
Kewptangles. It's all about them!
(But seriously - edit, edit, edit! To Bible black ;x )

Question 1 wrote:Who's your favorite editor(s)?
My favs are angelface, gangrell, Trampler, madaraxD, Daaf, AimoAio and Aggressor
Question 2 wrote:What can you tell me about your favorite editor as an editor and/or a person?
I'll talk about the ones I actually know. madara is a guy you should hang out once you met him well, Daaf's just crazy (just kidding Primo :asd: :asd: )
gangrell is a shy editor, but that's because she can't speak too much english, Trampler is one of those genius nobody notices until he takes the software
angelface is always a good time to speak with her, and Aggressor... well he's the maker of the AMVSimple, so I guess that's enough for him
Question 3 wrote:Who was your biggest mentor, or who was the closest thing to a mentor you had?
I had several, but I think Canakar was probably my biggest mentor. Nor because he was just someone wise and skilled, but it was that he never looked how much experience I had when I first start getting into the edition. If I didn't know something, he kept teaching me how to do it. Although he retired years ago, I think that without his help, I would have probably never met the org.
Question 4 wrote:What editors are or were the biggest influences to your work?
Question 4a wrote:How exactly did they influence you? What qualities present in your work can you trace back to those editors?
EvilSpider is probably the only one I need here, although Megamom is also an influence.
The style of Spidey is probably the one that influences a lot my own style, since I also like to play a lot with the BG rather than just playing with the effects. In the case of Megamom we also share the thoughts of trying to do something that wasn't made in previous releases. Crossover is the only word I need to define how they influence me.
Question 5 wrote:What outside of the online vidding community has influenced your work?
Question 5a wrote:How has it influenced your work?
At my case my hospital. Sometimes during the examination, and due to the findings I do with the whole structure, I find ideas for videos. For example Concordia's video was influenced by the life of a person I met during her stay. Every video has to do with real life situations
Question 6 wrote:Who are some influential people in AMVs and what are they responsible for?
mirkosp, CodeZTM, Ileia....

mirkosp, in his case talking with him means learning always something new. Always :dino:
CodeZTM, the lip flapper series and the Proyect Org editor, do I need to say more? :shark:
Ileia, although she might not be writting articles about the amvs, with her proyects, she always knows what she wants to show through the concepts :bear:
Question 7 wrote:Are there any somewhat unrecognized editors you wish to promote for any reason?
Question 7a wrote:Umm...seriously? Why that person(s)?
I got several. Mainly from AKROSS.
I dunno if you guys have ever heard about the editor Seliafel. The boy started a year ago to show how to manage a concept, and he was one of our hopes in the last AC. Rdc, the designer that can make lens flare without the traditional tools for them, Gaudi, man, it's just a gift to see a video from the guy.
And there are many others that unfortunately they don't get noticed here. But with videos that....... :awesome:
Question 8 wrote:Any of you old seasoned editors wanna give some advice on anything?
The only advice that I can give is to always think about the amvs as reflections. Because they are reflections from what the editor is about. Said that, do what you want, without being afraid of what the rest will think about.
Question 9 wrote:Is there anything else related to this subject you'd like to add or any questions you think should be asked as well?
The best editors are not the ones that makes the best videos, that have won lots of awards or that they are famous. The best editors are the ones that know how to cohelp others in a way nobody might do it.

Question 1 wrote:Who's your favorite editor(s)?
Nostromo, qwaqa, Caldwell.
Question 2 wrote:What can you tell me about your favorite editor as an editor and/or a person?
One's French, one's Russian, the last one is old.
Question 3 wrote:Who was your biggest mentor, or who was the closest thing to a mentor you had?
Not applicable.
Question 4 wrote:What editors are or were the biggest influences to your work?
Question 4a wrote:How exactly did they influence you? What qualities present in your work can you trace back to those editors?
Nostromo's Galaxy Bounce and qwaqa's Time showed me how powerful the right combination of footage and music can be. Caldwell's Caffeine Encomium taught me that I will never be able to sync like he can.
Question 5 wrote:What outside of the online vidding community has influenced your work?
Question 5a wrote:How has it influenced your work?
Professional music videos and live action videos are all sources of influence. They remind me how difficult it is to edit a medium that has on average one unique frame per 2-3 frames.
Question 6 wrote:Who are some influential people in AMVs and what are they responsible for?
E-Ko gave us Tainted Donuts, the prototypical crossover AMV. Aokakesu gave us Odorikuruu, the prototypical dance video. Caldwell gave us everything else.
Question 7 wrote:Are there any somewhat unrecognized editors you wish to promote for any reason?
Question 7a wrote:Umm...seriously? Why that person(s)?
Cannot think of anyone at the moment.
Question 8 wrote:Any of you old seasoned editors wanna give some advice on anything?
I don't consider myself old or seasoned ... or an editor (I'm a throw-togetherer), so I am not qualified.
Question 9 wrote:Is there anything else related to this subject you'd like to add or any questions you think should be asked as well?
No.
Question 10 wrote:How can the noob below you improve on his editing? NO CHANGING ANSWERS!
For the love of god, stop spamming crossfades. Thank you.

Question 1 wrote:Who's your favorite editor(s)?
Sole Editor: Kain-x-Spirits :3

Editor(s): The guy above, Radical_Yue, Ileia, Koop, Chiikaboom, Cenit, Haunter, Padre, Cosair, Rubeeh, Shinzo, Kristyrat, JaddziaDax, Gidra, Zetzu, Yuzuki Kokobundi (I think is his name :P), etc. xD I have so many it's not even funny. Personally, I just stick with Kain because of his style and powerful upbeat motion. :P
Question 2 wrote:What can you tell me about your favorite editor as an editor and/or a person?
He edits AMVs. . . Amazingly. *_*
Question 3 wrote:Who was your biggest mentor, or who was the closest thing to a mentor you had?
Radical_Yue :3 I honestly feel like she's one of the few editors left out there who is willing to give an honest opinion without any regard on how you feel about the subject. xD She's not really a mentor but she's hella helpful. :3
Question 4 wrote:What editors are or were the biggest influences to your work?
Question 4a wrote:How exactly did they influence you? What qualities present in your work can you trace back to those editors?
My biggest was probably Koop because, lord knows, when Euphoria came out, it was probably the talk of the town. :3 I haven't really been in the AMV community for very long because I'm still new here so. . . I don't really know what to say about this subject xD However, I know that that AMVs have really made me happy about my life in general because its something I've always wanted to see ever since I was a kid. :3
Question 5 wrote:What outside of the online vidding community has influenced your work?
Question 5a wrote:How has it influenced your work?
Megadeth + Cardcaptor Sakura *_* No joke, I dreamed of being an AMV editor ever since I was a kid. Only problem is that my parents were paranoid about the internet and computers so I never really got the chance to even find out what an AMV was back when I was a kid. But I swear, One Day, I will make a megadeth AMV with Cardcaptor Sakura in it. :P
Question 6 wrote:Who are some influential people in AMVs and what are they responsible for?
Radical_Yue for being an awesome beta tester! :3 Cosair for his simple, yet, effective, tutorials. Pwolf for the AMVapp and just being an awesome editor. *_* (Seriously, if he was still in the project org editor, that contest would've had one hell of a finale xD) . . . (Still feel like Ileia would've won though). :3 Tritio for just being an easy person to talk too and always going the extra mile to help everyone else out. Kionon, Mirkosp and all the other guys who help keep this site running. :dino: Godix. . . (Dunno why I'm mentioning his name but I always get the feeling he's a guy who should always be remembered when it comes too AMVs). Andrew Kramer for the Twitch plug-in. There's probably a lot more but I feel like I'd be going into too much detail. xD
Question 7 wrote:Are there any somewhat unrecognized editors you wish to promote for any reason?
Question 7a wrote:Umm...seriously? Why that person(s)?
AnnoN Productions. I don't know the editor personally but I feel like his/her AMVs have this sad yet amazing feeling to them that really draws me in despite his/her AMVs having flaws. *_*

I also recommend Shalyes because I believe that she/he is an awesome editor that is overlooked. :3
Question 8 wrote:Any of you old seasoned editors wanna give some advice on anything?
Lol, seasoned?? Noooo :awesome:
Question 9 wrote:Is there anything else related to this subject you'd like to add or any questions you think should be asked as well?
Questions. . . Man. . . How is it possible to put my whole emotion into an AMV so that others can feel what I make?? Why is color correction such a bitch?? How can I make my concept more visible?! Why does no one want me to edit with After Effects?? xD Also, I'm always eager to learn more about AMVs so don't be afraid to befriend me because I don't mind befriending anyone who loves making AMVs. ^_^
Question 10 wrote:How can the noob below you improve on his editing? NO CHANGING ANSWERS!
Learn AVISynth first, study AMVs second by opinionating them. Lastly, take pride in what you make. If you like what you make, don't stop and always try to improve. Also, don't forget to make friends along the way ;) They are always helpful and fun too be around. :D

Question 1 wrote:Who's your favorite editor(s)?
My favourite editors are Cross/fade, Nostromo, Qwaqa, Tyler.
Question 2 wrote:What can you tell me about your favorite editor as an editor and/or a person?
I don't know them really well, but other than Cross/fade who semms very friendly and a cool guy, I can't say something about Nostromo, Qwaqa and Tyler.
Question 3 wrote:Who was your biggest mentor, or who was the closest thing to a mentor you had?
He was diegao94 (for me Micio).
Question 4 wrote:What editors are or were the biggest influences to your work?
Question 4a wrote:How exactly did they influence you? What qualities present in your work can you trace back to those editors?
Micio and Kyros - I have to thank them for the improvements I've been doing since my video "Incomplete".
Question 5 wrote:What outside of the online vidding community has influenced your work?
Question 5a wrote:How has it influenced your work?
I don't think to have something which influence me, I simply listen to the music and sometimes I have some flashbacks of anime I've seen (in an exact moment of the song). If I believe that flashback is great, while I finish listening to the song, I imagine how I could continue that scene. For example, the idea of my video ".DiE" has come while I was at school, listening to my MP3 and not to my teacher. (I don't know if I was clear on this point).
Question 6 wrote:Who are some influential people in AMVs and what are they responsible for?
Mirkosp, because is always available to help anyone and he has done a lot of guides about encoding in general.
Dn@, because he has a big influence in the French editing and he's quite famous in general, but I personally think that he's a bit overestimated (I'm not saying he's not good at editing).
Nostromo and qwaqa, because their video are always an important landmarks for a lot of editors.
S.A. Robert, because he's a moderator on AMVNews and he put a lot of videos in homepage, and this has a big influence on the popularity of an AMV. By the way I sincerely believe that the fact that he always put his videos directly in the homepage is quite annoying. I think that it would more correct that his videos are judged from the users (like the other).
CodeZTM, because he always do a great job on his series and contests, he's a valid judge and he's always available to help people.
Question 7 wrote:Are there any somewhat unrecognized editors you wish to promote for any reason?
Question 7a wrote:Umm...seriously? Why that person(s)?
Karusman07: he's a talented editor and he makes great AMVs, but despite he's already well known on Youtube, internationally he isn't recognized as much as he deserves.
Here you can watch one of his best videos: Incoerenza
Question 8 wrote:Any of you old seasoned editors wanna give some advice on anything?
Not really, I don't know which advices I could give right now.
Question 9 wrote:Is there anything else related to this subject you'd like to add or any questions you think should be asked as well?
TritioAFB wrote:The best editors are not the ones that makes the best videos, that have won lots of awards or that they are famous. The best editors are the ones that know how to cohelp others in a way nobody might do it.

Jesmaster, Brad Demoss, Kevin Caldwell, Bakadeshi, Fall_Child42, Iliea, Otohiko, Shin-amv, Aluminum Studios, Vlad, BigBigTruck, Jaziadax, JubJub, SailorDeath, Koopiskeva, Brad(AtomX), Mexican Junior.... to name a few....
Question 2 wrote:What can you tell me about your favorite editor as an editor and/or a person?
MJ is a mad poker player and still the king of H
Question 3 wrote:Who was your biggest mentor, or who was the closest thing to a mentor you had?
I pretty much taught myself, but for helping make my stuff look good I'd go with Vicbond007, Ermac, AbsoluteDestiny, and Zarx for their guides.
Question 4 wrote:What editors are or were the biggest influences to your work?
Jesmaster, Brad Demoss, Kevin Caldwell, Aluminum Studios, Vlad, BigBigTruck, MJ, SailorDeath, Brad(AtomX)... to name a few
Question 4a wrote:How exactly did they influence you? What qualities present in your work can you trace back to those editors?
These were all fairly active editors during the time I was just a viewer grabbing videos from Kazaa and Morpheus and what not. Their works were the ones I 'grew up' on and as such much of my style of editing can be traced back to the kind of works they were putting out back in the day. The difference being that those who are still editing have moved on to doing more 'effects' work while I basically stick to simple editing.
Question 5 wrote:What outside of the online vidding community has influenced your work?
Movies and FilmRiot.
Question 5a wrote:How has it influenced your work?
With every movie I go to see I look at the editing style and transitioning techniques and look into incorporating them in my video ideas. And FilmRiot discusses techniques that I can and have used to help my process.
Question 6 wrote:Who are some influential people in AMVs and what are they responsible for?
Quu - Created contest video player software that many conventions use
Phade - Started this site

Question 1 wrote:Who's your favorite editor(s)?
I've got a couple. MajinKenshinAMV, with his sick timing skillz and impeccable scene selection. Pink Haze, because she has an incredible sense of artistic vision and amazing overlays. Others: Shin, Dn@, OkamiRvS, Silk_SK, Cross/fade.
Question 2 wrote:What can you tell me about your favorite editor as an editor and/or a person?
See above.
Question 3 wrote:Who was your biggest mentor, or who was the closest thing to a mentor you had?
Uh. Hm. Insofar as action style, I kinda learned on my own. In general though, I guess my beta-testers qualify as my "mentors" :P
Question 4 wrote:What editors are or were the biggest influences to your work?
I take inspiration and influence from a lot of different editors and places. If I see something I think is cool, I generally try to put it in my own videos, with a unique spin of course. Before I made my first AMV, I spent a long, long time analyzing the Otakon 2009 Action Finalists' videos, as well as stuff by MajinKenshinAMV and suzuna33.
Question 5 wrote:What outside of the online vidding community has influenced your work?
Question 5a wrote:How has it influenced your work?
Before I made AMVs, I used to make stupid PvP videos in a couple different MMORPGs. I learned how to take boring footage and make it more exciting by finding just the right moment to use it.
It was basically like training for making AMVs, which I consider to be much more difficult, haha.

I'm also a web designer, and this helps me a bit with color composition and whatnot.
Question 6 wrote:Who are some influential people in AMVs and what are they responsible for?
Influential people? I suppose I'd have to say Koop and Nostromo, obviously. I feel that no explanation is necessary for those two. I agree with Paco that Shin makes videos that are appealing to
both general amv viewers and editors as well.
Question 7 wrote:Are there any somewhat unrecognized editors you wish to promote for any reason?
Question 7a wrote:Umm...seriously? Why that person(s)?
Can't think of any that aren't well-known already >_>
Question 8 wrote:Any of you old seasoned editors wanna give some advice on anything?
I'm not an old / seasoned editor, but I've found that odd little things like playing certain puzzle games gets me "in the zone." Play Lumines for 30 minutes, go and edit productively for about
four hours.
Question 9 wrote:Is there anything else related to this subject you'd like to add or any questions you think should be asked as well?
Can't really think of anything.
Question 10 wrote:How can the noob below you improve on his editing? NO CHANGING ANSWERS!
