Relationships with other AMV sites

Postby TritioAFB » Wed Mar 14, 2012 10:01 am

This topic goes to all editors that spent time between the org and other sites related to AMVs. How's your experience dealing with other sites? And will you be as active as you're in the org? Without considering the language as a barrier (Ex. Russian, French, Hungarian sites)

At my case I registered first in the org but didn't become active until the final months of 2010. I'm active at AKROSS, tend to visit AMV-France everytime I have the chance, and active at ZonaAMV as I do in the org

The org is the only site i frequent. The language barrier has always been a contributing factor for me not visiting other sites.

I've never really frequented any other AMV sites, I've been linked to videos on them, mainly only AKROSS I can think of but never have I signed up to be a member. So yeah, only the org I visit.

I'm with Pwolf on this one. However, I have visited AMVnews and I really want to learn Russian so that language barrier doesn't become a problem for me no more. :3

That all depends on how you define "participate."

You can pretend to participate by posting in garbled google-translate filled phrases here and there to mask the fact that you're only there to pimp your own stuff or stuff of friends/studio-mates. Not like that concept is unheard of or anything. :amv:

I lurk on all the other sites (zona, akross, amvnews, amvfrance, etc) but don't actively post in any of those places that often. Google translate generally gives you the gist of what's being said, and the majority of them speak enough English that you can get a response from an occassional post it seems.

Language barrier is the primary reason I'm not more involved. But I'll also be honest and admit that it's intimidating to walk into somewhere that you've never had any sort of interaction with, AND not be able to accurately talk without googlespeak.

I do the same as Shin, I check the other sites fairly regularly, but I rarely comment/participate. If there's something that wasn't translated well enough and I really wanna know what was said, I can usually find a native speaker in IRC to help me out. >_>

I've never gone over to one of the other communities to share/pimp my own videos or that of my friends. I started checking other sites years ago because they had uploaded/shared my videos and then I ended up lurking around the rest of the site....

Most frequent on org for sure, but I do like to read on the French Forums (such as amv-france, souls team, and phoenix team - as I can understand some french) - haven't posted much aside from ICs and MEPs (Don't consider it pimping since I talk to a few of them on skype and other social mediums)

As for the Hungarian/Portuguese/Italian Forums, ZonaAMV and others etc. I just lurk as there are way too many to be constantly looking at them.

I like to go to AKROSS and AMVNews to check out new AMVs and other things that might be happening cause I like their contests. Haven't posted much on these either.

I don't really feel there is language barrier problems, since most of them can speak English. They either speak it extremely well, or decently. I have even spoken on other chat mediums like Skype with a few Russian editors - who know English well. They just don't let it on, and well its their community so they speak their native language of course. As anyone would. =3

Initially attended enough AMV.IT
then over time the community is becoming less.
Only a few months I'm beginning to attend more a-m-v.org
initially not attended for a little afraid that my amv are not equal, a little to the problem of my terrible English.
Then thanks to my friends :D , who share this passion, I have explained a little bit the community, I decided to attend in their free time this site :ying:

I check out several AMV-related sites, but the only one I follow frequently and where I post regurarly is the Org. Language barrier isn't a big problem for me, especially lately.

Same here, I've been in the AMV.IT before this one, but the community is slowly going down.
So I tried the org, I'm here by less than a month but I have to say that it's a nice stay.
For the other site.....

Here it is. Only languages I know are Italian and English (and I don't speak english very well, but I always try my best).
I check them, I get into the contest sometimes, but I can't speak because of the language.
