Highly likely. I'd say that 800,000+ user number on the main page is probably half bots/spammers. Kinda surprised the most online number was that low considering.
Regardless of the number, I think it still indicates a peak timeframe. (I don't know much about bots, but I assume there is a positive correlation between forum activity and # of bots...)

Yeah, I should have been more clear, sorry, but you do raise some good questions:
What exactly happened after 2006?
(did the AMV-scene actually start to die off? Did it simply move elsewhere like YouTube (that's my guess)? But is it more active, and still growing? etc... )
...it's really hard to quantify this sort of thing... but the search results for "AMV" on youtube returned 43,000 results. I don't know what the results would be in 2006-present, but even that would fluctuate as videos get uploaded/taken-down... not to mention duplicate results...
man. if only everyone cataloged their AMV's on the org...
But that would make waaayyy toooo much sense.
