2. If the effects required for an amv are too complex I give up
3. All of my best amvs are on-the-fly-ideas that had almost no planning done beforehand save a couple scenes.

The more generic your humor, the more people you can "get" with your jokes, which is hard for people with a unique sense of humor. At the same time, you don't have to do a good job polishing a comedy video if it's funny, so the video can be "cheap and easy" to make.

Those videos are usually pretty terrible and rely on the audio rather then actual creativity and editing skill.

AMV Hell wasn't the best quality (some limitations to source material) and they didn't use massive effects or anything fancy, but the concepts and execution were brilliant.

Other then the fact that AMV Hell (all of them) are awful, that has nothing to do with what you said earlier. Comedy videos can be funny, it doesn't make them good or well edited. l33tmeatwad wrote:This is very true, but I was just pointing out that it doesn't have to be edited well if the concept is strong enough, not that the concept doesn't have to be good.
