The comment was a bit disingenuous though. This is a specific case of someone deeply in the community using videos mostly by other people deeply in the community as an in-joke for the community. The video's purpose wasn't to cut corners by using someone else's edits and source footage, which is the primary purpose the act mentioned by the OP is about.

Who cares anyway? It's not like we're not all more or less influenced by other editors anyway. People who use other AMVs for their own AMVs merely do directly what we all do indirectly. Nothing is ours really.
