Just out of curiosity, Vlad, do you actually track the number of hours you spend on a project? 'Cause I sure don't. I can say, "Yeah, my last video I started on Monday night and finished on Thursday night", but that's about it.

#2

I study for class, I go to work, and I can never make time to edit like I wish I could. This doesn't bode well for the future, seeing how I'll probably be going full-time with school this August.

I know I could do 15 minutes here or there everyday, but I really need at least one or two full hours to get any productive editing done. I really want to put some good time into this hobby, but it always seems like there's something urgent that needs my attention first.

Plus, I'm just awful at managing my time.

Don't even ask... those days you describe above don't even make my rough cut 50% done :(

I only edit when I feel like, so I guess its just the right amount. Only time its otherwise is for deadlines and procrastination :awesome: .
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

#3, I usually take 1 day per week to edit, or a couple of hours each day, when I am little inspired... but I want to take it slow, i don´t even finish my level up entry, I prefer to end it right than rush.

Usually within the same week. If a video takes me longer than a week and a half, I begin to get highly irritated with it. I think two weeks is about the longest I've ever taken with a vid.

Not enough, because of something like a #2.5. As I tend to complain about, my computer's age finally got the better of me, editing-wise. My patience unceremoniously ran out sometime in 2009, after a good 6 years. So my motivation to edit is sapped because I'd spend so much time getting everything else done, whether that's converting regular stuff (AMVs or not) for DVD just so I can watch them, converting my source footage for clip farming, or the actual editing process (it takes Premiere a half hour to export a 480p, effects-less, 4 minute video).

And then I have to balance it against normal Internet browsing, getting out of my house so I don't go stir crazy, and watching stuff? Ha.

The ironic and sad part is that when I had a job, I edited more and found ample time to do so. It was a release, because I hated that job. To get back to that, I need to get a new computer first, preferably by way of a job that can pay for me to build it the way I want.

I would say that I'm actually pretty well balanced in doing my work and having time to edit AMVs. The secret is simple: plan and schedule your day.
As gay as it sounds, it actually helps a lot when you literally write out your schedule of what your going to do from when you wake up to when you go to sleep. And if you put the effort to follow that schedule, you will find yourself accomplishing everything you need and want. I'm a firm believer in planning and setting goals for the day and I think that this simple concept would definitely get more people to have time to edit.
