While that'd be nice in theory, being hired means you can't do your own work; you're fulfilling someone else's ideas. Still, it pays.

Wait... I thought you were a NON-professional?

SELLOUT!!!

J/K. ;) Good luck, NP!

While not a music video, Meri and I picked up a job for the English department here at Rutgers editing a half-hour documentary / instructional video / introduction for new tutors for the Writing Center.

Our boss (who was actually our former "Web Authoring" professor) wanted to do a couple musical interludes, so of course, we ended up editing on beats and such, AMV style :D.

So yeah... we sold out, too! :D

I do highlight reels for the Columbus Crew every year...I don't get paid per se, but I do get a little something in compensation.

Best of all is knowing something I edited gets shown at all Crew functions and appearances, where appropriate.

Oh, and the pregame showing on the JumboTron to thousands of fans doesn't hurt either. The stadium acoustics play havoc with on-the-beat edits, I've found...

I feel like I should respond in this thread, but every time I begin to type something it sounds really pompous. Hell, that sounded pompous. Regerdless, I've been hired quite a few times to do various editing gigs, as well as a few music videos for independent bands and the like. Currently, I just got a job editing a feature length documentary/nature show for PBS about raptors... there's over 90 hours of footage on several different stocks (16mm, BetaSP, Digital8, Hi-8), so it's right up my ally!

I can't get away from it... no matter how I write this out, I sound like a pompous asshole. Ah well, can't help it...

In other words, yes, I've been hired many, many times. I mean, I should be! It's how I buy things like food!

I shouldn't have posted this. Oh well, I'll just hit that little submit button right down there... ugh...

I was hired and paid to do a wedding video before..my teacher gave me out as a reference. Other than that, a veteran's day video for a grade school and a video letter from the mayor and school kids of Zanesville Ohio...but though I was hired...I only got college credit. bah!
