a video can be stunningly enjoyable to me (koop's "paper image" for example). But most of the time when I watch so called "raw" AMV's, I either have to like the anime(s) used or the combination of sources in general.
However as I mentioned, if the video is well executed with its placements of cuts, scene selection and the 2 sources makes justice to one another, I might enjoy it if it is at the level of making me care for it.
Might sound harsh, but nowadays I mainly watch AMV's of animes I like, that way I'll almost always enjoy the video.
Of course I won't always like how it was made, but I usually give out pointers (editing-wise) if so.
So yeah,
Basically I enjoy the more flashy, fresh, experimental-visual-experience sort of videos.
Not saything the one is better than the other. I just care more for nice advance visuals than stock cross-fades.
Also, of course the video featuring heavy effects must be well thought through.
The editor at hand also needs to know what the heck he/she is doing, and have some sense of "designers taste".
I'll rephrase myself, I enjoy original and creative effect-filled videos.
If the effects are the same old boring ones all spammed at once, I'll close it down after a few seconds + skimming.
