There are very few AMVs that can impact me and this video is certainly one of the few that does that. It's just my personal opinion that's all, but this video is a good experimental vid. It's also a good example of a video that doesn't use complex editing techniques, and instead focuses on the emotional element.
A good element in this vid too is the music. The music has a lot of imagery to it. When put together with footage from Evangelion, the end result is not bad. The first half of the video is pretty haunting. The scenes of destruction in the first half really captures the emotion that's portrayed in the original End of Evangelion film. The second half is very emotional. I don't know what it is about Evangelion, but I remember first watching the series and feeling in some way very connected to the characters. I remember watching this AMV right after watching the movie The End of Evangelion and personally felt that the video captured a lot of the emotion the characters had in the story. It's just my personal opinion, but I think this video has some very good film-editing techniques.
A con in this vid is the length. The AMV is at least 7 mins long. It requires you to be prepared to sit through a long video and you do have watch it in the right environment too. I would say this video is best watched alone and when your in the mood to watch something that's experimental.
I don't know if this video would fair well at the cons and I don't know if it has a good re-watch value. It's certainly not a vid that I watch over and over again. But it is a vid that certainly engages me after a while when I decide to open it up.
Discuss.
