Heh. Haters gonna hate. Although the second link is more or less mentioning about how to improve the site, not as much "hating" so much as constructive criticism.

I guess it could always be worse?

Though it seems to me the biggest complaint about amvs is the fact they are flooding youtube making search results harder to sift through O.o

Offhand, it seems what the haters really hate the stereotypical youtube AMV. You know, the one made in half an hour in WMM using subtitles, Naruto, and In the End? The same AMVs most people around here hate too? Yeah, if that's all they've seen, I can't blame them for doing a facebook page about getting rid of them. Hell, if I thought it'd do any good, I'd join that group myself.

Although the comments made me smile. Bunch of "I can't find my favorite fight scenes with all these AMVs" type comments. When you're scouring the tube looking for Goku kicking butt because watching the whole episode involves plot and talking and other boring shit, you have no room to be whining about anyone else. It's like if a HS chess club started mocking the marching band for being nerds.

It's not that it's bad, it's just that in my mind I see it as a sort of library of AMVs and as such I quietly look for what I want and then leave.

this guy uses this site correctly :)

It wouldn't be a surprise to find a love/hate group for virtually anything in facebook (http://facebook.com/group.php?gid=2218660047). In fact, it isn't like he hates AMVs, he just hates them popping up when searching for something else.

About the youtube thing, it's just the same as looking for a song and finding first 10 covers from random people. Those generally aren't that good, and adding up the fact that you wanted to watch/listen to the official version is just going to piss you off. Unless it's really good and you find yourself digging it (it happens).

And as for the second link, it's just showing that people are generally confused with the template (what code said).

I found an interesting rant:

and this:

and I support both! bad editing and lack of criteria are killing the hobbie.

I don't think these people actually hate AMVs, or if they do that it is not the root cause of their hatred. Rather I think it is the fact that amvs drown out the search results on youtube for the things they are specifically looking for. Sounds like a problem with youtube's search relevance.

Something like:

OMFG ALL RESULTS ARE FOR AMVS

Not sure if it has ever occurred to the people complaining that they can format their query like:

stuff I'm looking for -amv

to get rid of most amvs in the results...

(and yes, I am generalizing >_>)

That thar is some mighty advanced google-fu, the likes of which takes entire minutes to learn.
Surely no mortal can try that hard for that long.
