I wanted to make an action video of FMA to a power pop song. I watched the entire series over again and wrote down specific times during each episode where there was an action scene. I encoded all of the episodes to lossless, organized all of my scripts and notes, opened the timeline, and BAM -- no idea what to do for the first 10 seconds of the song. I placed a few clips to see if anything would fit and they didn't. Gave up and spared myself a few weeks of grief. I don't really regret it, but I am curious as to what the AMV would've looked like if I did end up grinding through the timeline.

From Donator's:

Title: Monday
Source: Touch
Song: Monday Morning by Simon and Milo
Started work: Sometime in 2007, probably.
Status: Scrapped.
Betas? No.
Info: I scrapped this largely because the footage is so old, and the DVDs of it are encoded so badly that I just wasn't having any luck cleaning up the source.

Title: Strawberries
Source: Ichigo Mashimaro
Song: When I Grow Up by Garbage
Started work: Feb 3, 2008.
Status: Probably scrapped.
Betas? No.
Info: I still think this song/video combination has a lot of potential, but I think all of my previous work is pretty much useless.

I still haven't released:

Everything else I've ever laid down timeline for is technically still on the table, I suppose...

Usually somewhere in the neighborhood of a dozen per year. I like to try out different sources with the songs, or different songs with the same source. Usually, for every video I release with a specific anime, I have 2-3 videos with the same anime that I've scrapped before it. Or sometimes my harddrives die. Like last summer, I lost two of them....and about a dozen video projects with it.....

Really, though, considering how little I do beyond "raw" editing (as the youtubers put it), most of my videos would be really easy to pick up again. I just kinda lose interest in vids if I don't finish them right away.....

I had the first 90 seconds of Cowboy Bebop with Bob Dylan's "Ballad of a Thin Man".

I had the first 45 seconds of Cowboy Bebop with Led Zeppelin's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" (because spike totally leaves her!)

I had the first 100 seconds and last 30 seconds of Cowboy Bebop with Cornelius' remix of Money Mark's "Maybe I'm Dead".

This is why it took me so long to come out with my FLCL video. Life didn't want me to make a bebop video, and I damn sure wasn't going to come out with a lame video at that point.

I had a really cute song I was going to use with K-On (I might still use it, so it's going unnamed) and then I watched some K-on vids ... =|

I had an anime mix to the TV size version of Let It Out by Miho Fukuhara that I partly finished, but I never fully finished and ended up scraping the whole project later. I also had a Gakuen Alice MMV to the TV size version of Azu's For You that was also partly finished, but I never did fully finish and release it.

I did fully complete an anime mix to Cute Is What We Aim For's Hollywood, but I decided in the end to have it remain unreleased. I did the same with a Anti-Tamaki x Haruhi video I did to Theory of a Deadman's Nothing Good About Goodbye.

Oh hell, if I had a dime......

In fact I had been working on a video for awa pro since January that never got past the first verse. Stupid real world and "life" and stuff. Sucks too because I really enjoyed this video and did a bunch of work making dripping blood and other custom FX in after effects plus a totally 3D main character. It's a pain but I'll finish it one day soon.
Hell I probably 8-12 videos a year but only a very few get finished. Look at King of Spayn, it's still pending export alone since..... new year :uhoh:
