An epic summary of an epic saga.

What album might you guys be interested in doing?

Im really up for anything but im pretty partial to a rock opera myself, or something epic, like Dark Side of the Moon.

I believe thats it's got enough interesting music in it to keep it fresh.

Yea does help it being a short album also, allways been partial to the wall myself but then again i want to avoid the need to killl myself for the next year+. Id like this if done to be a real collaberation life working on each track together instead of the usual Lets split tracks. At least if i'm going to do something huge might as well do it in a way that hasn't been done before.

Shameless self grats =p

Keep in mind this was made almost 10 years ago. Fond memories of the experience of making that vid though even though I felt like shit after completing it. Despite this being out on DVD I used analog capture equipment for my editing setup and that equipment (DC50) died. I think DeCSS was around but my environment wasn't setup for that and I had no DVD-ROM drive. I was waiting for the repaired DC50 for weeks and finally it came in like maybe 2 days before the ACen due date. A typical last minute job like a lot of my other videos but I hadn't thrown something together this long before. I capped and edited it one day and then crashed after driving up to the con to turn it the entry to Michelle ... ah such memories. The hardest part was probably tweaking the 3 floyd songs multiple times while making it. I had not done that ahead of time and only had a general feeling where I would segue the audio. I still think this is the most freeform and intentionally anti-AMV editing I ever did. You know back when I gave a shit and could really get behind something and motivated to showcase it. I tried to fix some stuff for AWA later that year but got lazy and only touched up a few things. A lot of stuff works great but there are some rough spots. Certainly at the time it would easily classify as epic and one of the few long AMVs (> 6min) to actually win an award at a con.

I think the most hilarious thing about trying to make that video was when I was on my tech support call to get the RMA setup for the DC50 this guy on the other end of the phone sounds so fucking familiar. The teleconference system they used must have been a cheap POS cause the audio quality was terrible. Then like after 2 minutes of talking the tech and I both stop and the tech says outlawed is that you? and I'm like yea man. It was someone I knew from a university anime club a few years back. So i guess it's epic in terms of floyd + scope and additionally for me because of the crunch I went through making it.

At any rate Infinite Ryvius is in my opinion an important anime with some minimal historical significance at this point in time. This was the directorial debut of Taniguchi Goro and during a pretty big paradigm shift of themetics in some of Sunrise's (a major studio unlike Gainax) works where some directors and their staffs got to do some creative things that would have been quite different pre-Evangelion.

God why am I posting all this BS.

I actually have an 8+ minute video in mind. Whether it'll be epic or not is debatable.

Bonus: it combines Megaman and DBZ

I have a few 'epics' planned. Actually a few of the AMVs in my profile are actually 'part 1's' of a 2 or 3 part overall story. is the newest part 1. Also as well. Not sure how epic they may be, but it's pretty epic to carry a story from one video to the next. Too bad I haven't followed through on the idea yet tho.

I have a full album video in the works as well. Been planning it and storyboarding it and all of that for a year now. I've got half of the source ready and as soon as I can purchase more TBs I'll be able to start encoding the other half.
