Memory Lane

Postby Jwalk0 » Sat May 15, 2010 9:05 pm

Three Fridays ago while I was taking a road trip to my girl's place a song from one of my past amvs came on XM Radio, and then right after that song ended another song that I used on a past amv came on.

Five songs later another one and two songs later another one

At that point it hit me on what I should do in my spare time and later that night I burned two cds containing all the songs I used on my last 29 amvs in order from my first amv to last released. When I took the road trip back home I had enough time to play all 29 songs and it was absolutely glorious reminiscing on all the songs and animes I used with them from the start of this hobby to the present, and in a way gave me time to reflect on how I grew as an editor. Now I'm addicted to them, whenever I'm on the road or studying or playing video games (mainly while grinding on FF13 and Star Ocean 4) or just chillin I have them on full blast.

Has anybody ever burned all the songs they used on personal past amvs and listened to them? Or interested in giving it a shot, I think it helps in a way.

Usually whenever I make an amv the process ruins the song for me afterwards lol.

I could see myself getting all nostalgic and wanting to edit more if I listened to a CD full of songs I've used.

Hmm...

this. as much as i may love a song before editing to it, after hearing every few seconds playback over and over again, it just bothers me to listen afterwards. and that's one of the reasons why i don't edit to my favorite songs and bands.

Maybe you should stop editing so you don't ruin any more songs.

So far, editing hasn't ruined any of the songs for me. I'm pretty surprised at how much I still enjoy them.

I used to think like that also but...after so many years away, it is nice to listen to the songs and see the videos in your head.

Give it a few years and the nostalgia will be irresistible...

i only hate a song while i'm editing it, the minute i finish though and i can watch the whole thing uninterrupted i love it! (even if there are a lot of flaws that need fixing up)

I've thought about this though, not only songs i've done but songs that are in my favorite amvs. A lot of songs i hear first in amvs, and whether the video was good or bad, the song is forever attached to it.

Ya I find myself liking songs that I first heard in an amv I liked. Its like sometimes If I had just heard the song otherwise I wouldnt have liked it nearly as much.
