Woah...looks like some *SRS* business is goin on here! Banning and the world wide waste go hand in hand though, you shouldn't be surprised, nor should you be surprised that banning is done for childish reasoning. The entire concept of banning was created specifically for tweenagers on the Internet, which is why on Usenet, where it's mostly all adults, there's simply no such thing as banning...at all. On Usenet people are expected to act like *ADULTS* and to censor *THEMSELVES* via the use of filters or blinders if there's content that they can't handle looking at.
But the world wide waste works a bit differently, because it's so infested with children, and children cannot be expected to censor themselves, they need a kind of "mommy moderator" to look after them, to "ban" all the big bad Interwebs monsters and hold their little hands and wipe their asses for them...well, at least that was the general idea. Problem is, in most cases, the "mommy moderator" usually turns out to be a tweenager themselves, and as such, well...hilarity ensues! ^__^
To put it simply, there is *NO* adult reason to ever ban someone, if you're banning anyone...you're doing it because you're a child and because you can't act like an adult. And using the excuse that someone else is acting childish as reasoning for you to act the same way...yeah...it kinda makes you look stupid...*REALLY* stupid.
The only plausible reasoning for a "ban" is in regards to spam...however even in that regard it's pretty much the poorest tool you could ever rely upon. Removing spam through the use of automated filters is the way to go. It's much more efficient and it doesn't require you to act like a child to try and solve a problem.
...just some food for thought. ^__^
