Somehwat mislead i think...

Postby silent_akessa » Sat Nov 14, 2009 4:06 pm

I was poking about on the site and out of curiosty i eneterd the name of a faveourite animated show i watch: Skyland.
It came up as having one vid on the site, and as ive made a few myself it hought id add them. Ive TRIED Youtube before anyone asks, and ive had massive problems with uploading the vids, so i had to give up. This would be my only other option..

Went through the usual method, had to add the song used as "new song", it was Nightwish - The Islander, from the new album. Went to the lists, and although it says "confirmed as non-anime" it let me select it (skyland) anyway. Now i try to go to the "Upload a video page" and the obligatory "you have no vids" it at the bottom.

Now heres my question: Is it because of the Skyland selection? If so:
a) Why is it there if its non allowed?
b) Why is it selectable if its a non anime?

Im just wondering if im getting my hopes up for nothing  As i have no external site to host my videos, and i want people to be able to see them... and if its not allowed, why is it on there?! Seems kinda mis-leading in a way, for a uttter noob like me..maybe theres some unwritten rule is missed, if so, someone please calrify...

You can use non-anime in your video, so long as it only takes up 49% or less of the actual video. 51% has to be anime to qualify for uploading. That is why you can select non-anime.

Ahh..shame >.< i lost my anime collection when my HD got wrecked, the skyland footage was all that survived because it was on the external at the time.....

While on the topic, are there ANY alternatives (sites like this one) for non-anime?

Logically, though, since the source list is labeled as "Anime:", I would expect only anime to be listed. That's the way I've always thought of it, anyway.

There are vidding communities, but since I only use anime, not general animation or live action source, I cannot point you in any specific direction.

Two more things:

1). Use DVDs. You can't lose your source that way if a harddrive dies. You may lose your preprocessed clips, or even project files, which will suck, but you won't lose the footage because you own copies of it in the product format.

2). I'm with Kit, I don't think non-anime should be selectable at all. I think you can talk about it in the video notes if you have non-anime source.
