is the org having problems right now???...

Postby Side Swipe » Fri Jun 05, 2009 5:39 pm

People have been bothering me wanting me to upload 2 of my recent creations "2 Dollars" (best in show Bakuretsucon and best Action Tora-con) and "Modern Major Clusterfuck" (Tora-con finalist and Anime Boston non-compete) and every time I go to the add video information page it freezes up and doesn't finish loading the page and I can't input info or even scroll the page down... I wanted to know if others are having this same problem or if it is just me... I want to appease the masses and get these videos into the system however I need to know if it's on the ORG end of things or if I need to find some other way of doing it on my end.

I apologize for this post likely not being in the correct thread. However, I didn't see an "is the ORG having problems" thread in which to ask this question and, thus didn't know where else to put it.

I'm afraid, that from what I think, the hang up you experience is because of the accumulation information in a same webpage (browsers get really stuck up with this). The best you could do, is be patient a minute, and see if it works up then. I had the same problem little time ago. It isn't a connection issue from any of you or the ORG.

So, my advice is for you to open that web in a separate window and wait for a while until it unfreezes, if it it does

I'm sorry that I double post, I couldn't find a way to edit this other post. I think I figured that the slowness is caused because of the studio dropdown option. Maybe a search function for an specific studio should be implemented to avoid this from happening. My 10 cents to help

You couldn't edit because you can't edit in this section. There are only a few where you can edit.

Please link to the page you are having problems with and describe your problem a little more concisely. I'm still not sure what, when, where, why, and how you are having a problem other than that you are trying to enter new videos and have been unsuccessful due to a page not loading properly in your browser...

(Also for future reference these kinds of threads go in the site help forum)

I think he means http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... _step1.php . I had problems with that webpage too, I think it's because of the reason I stated before. But it doesn't completely freeze forever for me, though.

I understand, but I would like to hear it directly from the person reporting the problem. I personally do not have problems loading that page.

What browser are you using, have you tried firefox? (You don't have to switch from your current browser but it may help you enter your video info for the time being.) Some browsers can't handle the size of the studio list. It really does need reworking. :( It currently spits out about 14000 studio names. I should be able to drop that number to 11000 or so but I can't really call that much of an improvement...

Also I did go back and try it again and it still isn't working... still locks up my browser...

Hmm, I've never had a problem with firefox on that page. Are you running vanilla firefox (no extensions) or the latest version (currently 3.0.10 or 3.5 beta)?

I've changed the page so only the 11000 studios currently used by users are returned. The drop down list should also now automatically select your studio name when the page loads instead of defaulting to "none".

If this doesn't fix your problem then I'm afraid this isn't going to be a quick fix..

ATM I am running an older version of firefox because I refuse to lose my unplug plugin and at the time FF3.0 was released it wouldn't work with it. I don't know if unplug works with the latest firefox yet so I havent bothered to upgrade but I know this version has had no problems in the past I don't know what's going on now to cause this... I just tried it again and this time it locked up before it even tried to load the new page. it hung on step0. I could try to upgrade the browser but I am hesitant because I don't want it to screw up my work connection and login... and also try as I may I always somehow end up losing all my bookmarks when I upgrade... thus again I am hesitant to do so... this version of FF has worked in the past I don't see why it shouldn't now.

Unplug works with even the 3.5 beta versions of firefox now. You can always check compatability on the addon's webpage.

Also, I've never lost my bookmarks, cookies, and saved passwords in a firefox upgrade... You aren't uninstalling first are you? You should just run the installer and it should maintain your info.

If step0 is giving you problems then I have no idea why you are having problems. I'd say it is the software on your computer, but you are the only one in the position of troubleshooting that.

If you are fearful of losing bookmarks and such, just backup you firefox data before upgrading.
