My Beautiful Girl Mari

Would it count as anime? If so, I'm asking for a confirmation of it. If it's there, I didn't see it. I would think it would be an anime since I bought it in the anime section in a pack with A Tree of Palme.

the Org's definition of Anime and the world's definition of Anime is different.

Seeing as how the company that made it is South Korean, it would not be considered Anime. It has to be made by a Japanese company.

Hmm the way I said that seemed like the Org's definition of anime is wrong =|. A lot of hard core anime fans wouldnt consider a non-japanese made anime to be a true anime. Whereas, in the US so long as it follows a similar feel or art style, companies will classify it as anime.

Yeah, what LittleAtari said, the definition of anime on the org is that the company producing it must reside in Japan. However though, you can still use this source in an AMV, as long as 60% I think of the video is made up of anime. I think it's 60%, it might be 50%.

Aw. It's a shame, it's such a good movie. Can an admin and/or moderator reply to confirm it for sure.

Well yeah. Stateside if it follows the anime art style it's considered anime. Same goes for manga. I could go out and write a manga (if I was any good, which I'm not) and get it published by Tokyopop or Del Rey or whoever and it would be labeled a manga, I could even use a Japanese pen name and then nobody could tell the difference. Unless they traced the source and found out it was never released in Japan. You know the saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"? Well the same could be said for whether something is anime or not. But there is a need for a strict definition regardless, because if not, we'd have hundreds... no thousands of non-anime AMVs or sort-of-anime AMVs floating around the org.

If it's not made in Japan, it won't count. Same reason Avatar doesn't count. =\

I think this would work

1. Made by Japanese Company
2. Animation style is Anime
3. Intended for Japanese viewers
4. Original voices are Japanese.

Strike the 4th one, as Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is considered animé around here.

I've seen anime that have a significant amount of English dialogue. Like Beck and Higashi no Eden.

Crap, no edit button to add this. While I've never watched Beck... The voices themselves are Japanese in Higashi no Eden (<3))

Good point. I forgot about that.
