Forum Time Zones?

Where are the time Zones based off of that we select in our profile of the Forum? Cause' the same thing is selected on my computer (synchronized with Microsoft time) and it seems to be about 1/2 hour difference...Just wondering. And if it’s important, I’m in GMT - 5 hours, which is Eastern Time.

Profile. Adjust it with a + or - sign next to the number of hours you are off of Eastern time.

I know how to set it, I just want to know what time they go off of, like, "US official Government Time" would be the kind of answer I am looking for.

I dunno really, I always have my problems with timezones (stupid brain XD), but I am at GMT+1, and as far as I know (and what I can see at the journals ^^) the server should be like GMT-6 or something...

As usual, I could be all wrong o.O

...which is why I am even here. Why is the board half an hour off of the regular time? Just wondering out of curiousity. This post made at 02:38 Eastern time.
