Re: Virus Question
No. Computer viruses, generally speaking, do not propagate via data files. It is therefore unlikely that your friend contracted a computer virus via an AMV.trainra wrote:Last time one of my friends downloaded an AMV and he got a virus so are viruses scanned for before they are put on the download page.
However, on the slim chance that you have discovered some novel virus* in the wild that can propagate via media players and can prove that, I suggest you send the infected file to McAfee, Symantec, or some other antivirus research lab. Then maybe we can do something about it.
* Note: a virus is not a worm is not a buffer overflow is not a Trojan horse.

On that note, though, if someone IS uploading e.g. Trojan horses to the .org, I suggest you inform the moderators.trythil wrote:* Note: a virus is not a worm is not a buffer overflow is not a Trojan horse.
