entering stuff into the database

Postby Drawshot » Thu Oct 24, 2002 1:40 pm

After much looping around when entering the information for my AMVs, I realized that checking the boxes next to the music and video footage is a bad thing...

At first glance, it looks like you need to check the box before pressing the continue button to add the song/video to the database entry. However, checking the box deletes the song/video from your entry whether you press the continue or the delete button. There should be a little note somewhere that says "Do not check the box unless you are deleting the item"... or something like that...

There is a button taht says delete so I thought you would know that the check box was for this very purpose. Considering you have allready selected the song by that time.

yeah, well at first glance it looks like it would work like this:

check box and delete = delete
check box and continue = add
do not check box and continue = continue without adding

Instead, it works like this:

check box and delete = delete
check box and continue = delete
do not check box and continue = add

It just seems to be a little counter-intuitive. I did figure it out eventually, after I looped through the process about 4 times. I did see the delete button, and I realize that using the checkboxes will take an action on the item next to it. It just seems that if you check them and then hit continue, it will finish adding them to your entry. It is not obvious that the listings next to the checkboxes are already part of your entry, and the fact that the checkboxes are only there to delete is not obvious.
