International Help Forum

Post by dokool » Mon Nov 29, 2004 1:47 pm

Just an idea, how about creating a forum specifically for international editors to ask for help in their native language? I know that some newbies would probably feel more comfortable asking for help in a language other than English, and that if it was in a special forum their posts wouldn't get flames/criticism for bad grammar/spelling/etc, like in this thread.

Basically, people could make their posts in whatever language they'd want, and in the title note the language in parentheses. People who could respond in the language could respond, others could keep wiseass comments to themselves, problem solved.

I know that this may not be so big a problem that it requires another forum, but just an idea. This may also increase the 'Org's international presence as well, perhaps more European editors would log on (although there are already plenty) if they didn't have to worry about speaking English...

OH DIOS MIO Q VOY HACER!!, NO ENTIENDO NADA I MUST CALL LA CUCARACHA.
<_<hehe sorry i jsut had too.

anyway i support this idea, the mods and admins will have more work to do if this is done since a section like that one might need lots of moderating, you know people posting in very different languages and stuff!!.

Sounds like a good idea. Modding could be problematic though as BDaWiD pointed out.

It would be. Perhaps though some of those that are willing (and can read/write in other languages) could perhaps translate some of the guides (especially Moonslayer's)? This would at least give everyone the opportunity to help these members by giving them a link.

Yep, agreed entirely. I've already explained a few things about this place to a couple of non-english-speaking peeps, can't go wrong with making the advice public

Так что давайте, авось я тоже чего переведу...

Ack, Cyrillic, I can't top that. I've helped out some Spanish speakers to the best of my crappy Spanish in the .org chat before, though.

Sounds like a good idea. We could use more of a "worldview" on anime anyway.

Je peux aider les membres francophones de temps en temps, mais français n'est pas ma langue maternelle.

Anche, posso aiutare i membri italiani un poco, ma non comprendo l'italiano come buono come comprendo francese. (Infatti, quella frase aveva un errore)
