a: "anchor". Lets you make links.
em, strong: emphasis and, um, strong. More generic ways of emphasizing things. (may equate to bold or italics)
strike: Write text that's crossed out with a line.

further clarification:
"a" is for linking, such as "a href" or "a name", which creates anchor points within a page (actually i haven't yet tried "a name")

"em" is practically the same as "i" while "strong" is practically the same as "b". the difference is that "em" and "strong" produce 'styles' or something, while "i" and "b" change the font face (some computers display emphasis and strong differently). it's not important.

"strike" is what dokidoki wrote

Similar to php, [img]picture%20link[/img]


that's about the extent of my web skills. :P Neway, i had to add a php bold markup to make that html show up.
