Downloading with Getright

Postby Lonewolfoz » Fri Aug 22, 2003 2:43 am

Hi,

I have been going throught the blood, sweat, tears & a helluva lot of bad language thing, trying to dl this video:

"between love and pain" by SSJ_TRUNKS_SSJ

http://nago.animemusicvideos.org/downlo ... hp?v=20376

I am running IE 6.0, on a 56k modem, and an ISP that runs (where I am) at 4.5 kB/s and has a 6hr hard disconnect... all of which combined to spit out this dl when it was about 82% (about 40mB) complete!

I have getright 4.5c, but whenever i use it, it downloads a file called "downloadlocal.php", which it interprets as a web page... even when i copy & paste the above url, it still does the same thing...

Am I doing something wrong, or is this Leech protection? If that's the case, and Getright is unusable, do you have any suggestions for a download manager (that allows resuming) which I could use?

The resume feature in the local downloads is pretty recent it might not support Getright have a look at some of the download managers listed in this thread

I've tried DAP and Mozilla, and neither one worked for me. If there are other options, I'd be glad to hear them because right now, resume is still very much unavailable, at least for me. :?

Nevermind, I got opera to work.

I forgot about the 60 second rule. Great for me. If you don't wait 60 seconds though , it really messes up the whole thing and you have to start over.

Before I had cable I used realdownload, which for me worked much better than getright. Try giving that a try it might just work. If not sorry.

Opera? I don't suppose you have a link for a place to get that? ^_^;; I'm thinking a google search will be very difficult if I'm looking for 'opera download'...

You should probably try searching next time to save embarrasment ^_^;;;

It's a popular browser and doing a google search for just "opera" will bring you the site as the first link :)

I think I've give opera a go.

I found a copy of Opera (v7.03) on a magazine disk .... it started downloading a local vid ok, and then resumed when I stopped and restarted it (after the required 60 seconds).

So thank you all, I think we have a winner :)
