changing link

Postby Sinkua » Sat Aug 09, 2003 2:23 pm

I accidentally set up my first two videos in my profile to download directly off of my computer, rather than uploading them onto here. Is there a way to change that? If not, for future reference, what would I do to upload them here instead?

And if you want to upload your vids here (meaning local links), just go to 'upload vid' and follow the instructions - check the 'what is ftp?' link if you don't know how to use an ftp client to upload the vid. ^_^

Is there a way to upload without FTP? Because the Confirm Upload page I'm getting only has a "confirm video" and "cancel upload" link. "confirm video" just refreshes the page, from what I can see.

Well, did you upload the vid on FTP before the confirmation? It should work if you did, as FTP is indeed the only means for local upload.

Ah, I didn't check your join date. You have to have been a member for 2 weeks before you can upload vids to the local server. If you donate, you can bypass the waiting period, otherwise hang on a bit and try once the 2wks are up. ^_^;;

No you don't.

The 2 week limitation is only for downloading.

I didn't know that. :?

Thanks for informing me. ^_^; So...what's the problem here, then? I don't see why he's not getting the password when he confirms the vid - unless he forgot to check the box... :roll:

I'm getting the password and all of that. But then it just says the upload is pending, and I can't find where to confirm it. I dunno... it's just being weird. I'll get screenshots next time.

Oh.

If it says upload pending - that means you haven't uploaded the vid. Get an ftp client and use the password to log into the server, then send your vid over. Once it's finished, test the download and confirm the vid.

If you are really and truly hurting for an ftp client, you can open a new Internet Explorer window and type ftp://<enter.your.ftp.site.here> and it will prompt for username and password, use the ones on the upload webpage (you still have that open right? I said open a *new* window, gooood) and then drag and drop your video into the ftp server. From what I've read IE is rather inefficient for ftp uploading, but it's better than nothing.

Or you could use start/run/ftp <ftp site name here> and then type BIN <enter> PUT <location of AMV> <enter> and let it upload it that way. :)
