You guys are gonna think I'm realy stupid. I just got on this site and I can't figure out how to watch any of these videos. If someone could help me out I'd greatly appriciate it.
Thank you!

Are you brand new?

if yes,

Have you made any donations?

if no, you have to wait 2 weeks to download locally hosted videos. Or pony up some cash. Or only download videos marked Direct or Indirect.
If nothing else, harsh noises get your attention.

unfortunately you'll have to wait til the 2 week waiting period is over before you can do anything. til then just read the guides and stick to the forums, they help out a lot

On the main menu on the buttons to the left side you will see "search videos". Click on it and type in what you are looking for.

If you are "brand new" as in you havnt been a member for more then 2 weeks you can only download from indirect and direct links, not local.

Hope that helped.

Well, looks like everyone's covered downloading, so if you're new to *watching* vids, I'd suggest you take a close look at the file types of the direct/indirect vids you *can* download. A quick runthrough should save you some trouble if you're new to amvs.

Avi - watch out for the xvid codec, a lot of avi files can be played in windows media player or winamp, if you haven't added any codecs to your computer I'd say look at the guides for the newest divx codec and do a google search for the xvid codecs - you can download them and watch the avi files on windows media player, other avi files can be played in the DivX Player (www.doom9.org has this).
Mpg1 - easy format, playable in windows media player or Winamp3 (or earlier versions of winamp)
Mpg2 - troublesome codec, you can get the BSPlayer from doom9.org to play these, and some you'll need an early version of Winamp for (possibly Winamp 1.89 or Winamp 2)
Wmv - usually good in windows media player, but some can be seen in real media player (if you have that)
rm, ram - Real Media files usually play only in the realoneplayer (do a google search to get this), they're troublesome but there's supposed to be a codec pack you can get to play these on windows media player - just don't ask me if it works ^_^;;
mov - quicktime player only, another troublesome media player

Any other formats you find may not be worth the effort. Mostly I'd only get vids in avi, mpg or wmv. If you have rm player you can do the rm field, but it's usually not worth it (most rm files are small and fuzzy).

Yeah, just thought I'd cover the 'how to play vids' part of the question. ^_^;; And this should have gone in the 'Site Help' section. ^_~

I'm new to the website as well. I've been registered for over 2 weeks, and I'm having trouble as well. All of the videos I try to download say that there is a problem. I have attempted to download over 10 music videos. Am I just extremely unlucky, or have I done something wrong. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I take it you're talking about local links. If so, what is the error you're getting - copy and paste it, it may help. ^_^

It's mainly for indirect. I can't click on local at all. Here's a copy of what happens when I click on the indirect link:

Date Member Problem Type
2003-04-16 11:47:21 BlackHaven Server Not Found
2003-03-15 20:26:30 Proxy Server Not Found
2003-03-13 20:35:57 Proxy File Not Found
2003-02-27 14:06:42 Mika208 Server Not Found
2002-11-24 03:03:38 asuffield Connection Refused - Password Required

I've found a few videos where that doesn't happen, but when I click on the indirect link, nothing pops up to download.

Just bad luck would be my guess.

Indirect servers sometimes go down, people move websites, and on and on.
Or sometimes there is no actual download, like that Snog video I want to see but can't.

Yes, indirect and direct links are the responsibility of the creators hosting them. But I don't see why you wouldn't be able to click on the local links. Once you get to the vid description page, you should be able to click the link and have the download start automatically. What problem are you getting when you try to download local links? (That problem is something that *can* be fixed, most likely). ^_^

It's working now. I found my problem. I thought that the download started when you clicked local/direct/indirect on the search results screen. I accidentally clicked on the name of the video, and it took me to the screen where it downloaded. Sorry. It was my big mistake. I'm not very computer literate... Sorry for any trouble I've caused
